Tony 'TNT' Tubbs WBAA champion?

There is a belt once owned by Tony Tubbs for sale on e-bay. Apparently it was awarded to him by the World Boxing Athletic Association (WBAA) in 1986. Looks genuine but I never heard of this sanctioning body - does anyone have any info about it please?
Here is the link to see for yourselves:

I think he won that belt against Jerry (Wimpy) Halstead.

Thanks for the reply but the WBAA belt was awarded to Tubbs in 1986 (see e-bay link) and the Halstead fight was not until May 1987.

most i could find
1981-World Athletic Association

Pat O’Grady formed the group in Oklahoma after the WBA withdrew recognition as world lightweight champion from his son. The WAA sputtered out after Sean was knocked out by Andrew Ganigan on October 31 of that year. Another World Athletic Association (no connection to this one) was established in the 1990s

No mate, it says "WORN 1986 WORLD CHAMPION", which means the belt was worn by the 1986 world champion. Tubbs was indeed the World Champion then, the WBA, not the WBAA. I'm 99% certain he won it against Halstead.

The front of the belt says 'Presented To Tony Tubbs WBAA Heavyweight Champion' (at the top - above the WBAA logo) and it says '1986 World Heavyweight Champion' below the WBAA logo - which would seem to indicate that he received the belt in 1986.
But of course that might be misleading (depends how you construe it) and you may well be right about the Halstead fight. I wish we had some article or info to work it out. I've searched the internet to no avail :-(
Thank you very much for your input keithmoonhangover.

Adamj1987 Sean O'Grady's WAA (World Athletic Association) is a totally different organisation but thanks for your input.

I hear you mate, but an ebay description could have been written by anyone. Halstead fought for some obscure belts like the WBB title. Your thread triggered a memory. There may be something in The Ring magazine that covered the fight, but my collection is from 1988 onwards.

I heard he also got the WBAAA belt, after his car stalled on the interstate.
