Bute looked very poor against 13 fight novice Dennis Grachev; he lost several rounds, was rocked multiple times, and bled from 2 or 3 cuts. He struggled with the pressure of a very limited fighter, and if you thought that he may be able to correct his flaws and significantly improve his fortunes against Froch, think again.

Grachev probably isn't better than some of the fighters that Bute easily defeated, so the Froch battering likely took something out of him; he lacked confidence from the start and never looked sharp.

Grachev vs Ismayl Silakh showed he is a proper tough handful.

All I will say for Bute, is that it's a good job they boiled Grachev down or he'd have been beat.

On the basis of that today, I think Bute could go the same way Jeff Lacy did after getting his beating from Calzaghe. He totally lacked any confidence. I wouldn't put him anywhere near Froch at the moment if I were his manageent team as another beating would finish him completely.

that reminded me of enzo mac after he fought Haye, he was never the same and i fear Bute will now go down the same path.

A Romanian fan who flew over for the bout, was telling me how Bute underwent 2 months of weekly sporting psychology after the defeat and he literally hid for a fortnight upon returning home.

I feel a bit for him. If it was nip and tuck but he went over in the 12th or something, he could have taken something from it. But he got family-sized beating in May and its crushed him.

I was hoping he looked sparkling again back at home, to justify the rematch, but now it looks unlikely. I reckon he might move up because he's a big unit.

He was a shell of the fighter he used to be last night. Bar the bit of spark in the 12th he was very pedestrian. Froch will be licking his lips at the prospect of a rematch. Even Butes home crowd didn't inspire him for last night.

I really hope he doesn't take the re-match, it will wreck his career. He needs a couple of years re-building on last nights showing.

Sillakh was one of the top 3 prospects in the world at the time Grachev pasted him.
I think this is a combination of underrating a good up and coming fighter and that fighter just happening to have the style he's struggled with in the past.

Froch will always be too much for him. His career isn't defined, or confined by that avenue - there are better fighters than Froch from 168-175 who don't happen to be pressure fighters.

Edit: I should rephrase that last bit, there are better fighters for Bute to fight, than Froch.

There were a few rounds where he was backed up to the ropes where i was screaming at grachev to take a leaf out of froch's book and turn that pressure into heavy flurries. bute didn't look comfortable backed up to the ropes and i felt grachev could have done more damage if he had really let them go.

I often wondered if froch vs bute would be a different story in canada. but going on that i can only imagine froch would dismantle him in similar fashion. bute looks a broken man in comparison to himself pre-froch

These 'stay at home' fighters, once whooped on the road, they are usually finished. Bute is the new Lacy.

It still sold considerably more than Froch will get against Mack, and was actually a bigger crowd than Bute-Froch!

i certainly wasn;t comparing them as fighters, i just meant how Enzo looked since losing to haye, i hope the same thing doesn;t happen to Bute.

I see Grachev has said that Sillakh was a tougher opponent than Bute. Not hard to see why.

It would be career suicide for Bute to fight Froch again, if I’m Bute’s manager I would stick around in the barren landscape that is the light heavy weight division, first up I would fight Alan Green (minimal risk) to avenge Canadian honour, next up I would fight another highly ranked (yet largely minimal risk opponent) like say White or Fonfarra, hopefully that would restore Bute confidence and then I would match him against one of the divisions 2nd tier champs, then and only then would I start chasing a big fight (including a rematch with Froch, who is sure to be a bit more broken down in a year or two).

bute should fight magee again!

Bute should jump to light heavy and gun for Clev. That title is waiting to be lifted.

As it stands I think he stays at super mid, gets the Froch rematch, gets another beating and retires to enjoy his millions. Good luck to him. He is a nice chap.

He should go after Abraham for the WBO title.

He should forget about the Froch rematch for now.
