Take the glove weights down by 2 ounces...

Back to the 6 ounce for welter and under....8 ounces for above....

Its only 3 round fights with big breaks in between....the risk would not be the same as a 12 rounder...

A lot more KO's?

Whether it would be more interesting or not is irrelevant really because the BBBofC would never allow this for health and safety reasons.

Agreed. Imagine if there was a serious injury in a fight. They'd be open to huge legal action.

i still don't understand the glove size thing where a heavyweight uses same gloves as a light middle. and the majority of the things i have read says the gloves are mostly there for hand protection but i can see how people would be more open to hand injuries.

same as a lot of studdies show head guards in the ams is likely to increase the cumulative effects of punches

I heard a few people in boxing saying things like 'in the old days you got knocked out in the first round rather than taking 100's of punches'.....

Is it not proven that its dehydration causing most of the damage rather than the size of the gloves?

Not to mention damage to the hands

The best way to add more interest would be to have 3 or 4 a year with maybe bigger prize money. It's too stale and boring now.

They should make the tournament over 4 weekends, more rounds.

Would rather it was scrapped and replaced by a full Super Six style tournament. A domestic middleweight competition would go down a storm right now

i thought that was the reason they moved the same day weigh in

lets have the scores made public between rounds via a big red LED sign, the boxers and the public would then know what they had to do.

woulkd save the bollocks scorecards we were served up for the first 2 bouts the other night!

Great idea if you are behind, you would have to go for it, but fighters who know they are in front would run or spoil, or slow the pace down to conserve energy for the next fight.

Like most things the concept has simply get stale.
Great at the start but time to move on.
Suggestions ?
The super six for a few weight divisions would be great but sadly the Promotional obstacles will put paid to that.

Tell you what genius pop down to a local gym and get someone around your weight to give you a whack in the mouth with a 6oz glove, then come back and tell us if you think it's a good idea

so you think its a good idea to get with any other glove just not a 6......I have been hit with 8 & 10 not too much difference....you must be the genius then...

i would love to see a domestic middleweight super six style tournament but couldnt see macklin and barker or murray agreeing to it as they would be after world titles. be great to watch though

They should have both fighters in the first round put their purse in a pot - and if either wins by KO or by all-3-rounds on all 3 judges scorecards - then they scoop the entire lot and the loser goes home with nothing except basic expenses and a few complimentary tickets.

Same goes for round two as well - except by OPTION, so both fighters through to the next fight have a "double or nothing" bet between themselves. Pride is bitch !

This will allow the punchers AND the slick boxers to both have a chance of extra cash for putting in their utmost performance.

The people that enter want the loot and the more incentive schemes you can build in, then the more determined they will be.

Could run the prizefighters over a few months. Have the quarters of each major weight* division on one card. Then the semis of each weight on another card then leave it a month or so and have 6 or 8 round finals on the one night with the show maybe being headlined by a british title fight. Make the quarters and semis a lower scale show but go all guns blazing for the finals. Big screens, big entrances the lot.

Could maybe even reward the "most entertaining" fan friendly fighters from the quarters and semis a slot on the undercard of the final show. (If there was enough space)

*major weight divisions being the weight division with the best fighters available

That's why I said all 3 rounds, on all 3 cards mate - for that very reason !

Smaller ring telephone box style,no running,no jabbing ur way to a points win and only 154 and above.

I agree with the person who says have less each year.
