I read a different account in which the waiter claimed that Robinson went to him before the meal and told him to put a little blood in red wine to make it look real…but it was a setup to psyche Jake out.

its true actually - ray's trainers used to squeeze the blood out of meat they'd got from the abattoirs for sugar ray to drink. the idea being that it had amazing nutritional properties. just read an interview with him by WC Heinz where he talks a little about that. Bill Heinz would have told us if it was a scam.

Bulls blood apparently he drank to line his stomach to ake more resistant to body punching.
