I suspect the BBBC, like almost everyone else, suspect Enzo is at best shot and at worst an accident waiting to happen. Everyone likes Enzo. Nobody wants to see him vegetablised. Refs have probably had the word to keep a close eye on him and IJL did just that last night.

Standing eight. I vote yes.

Last night it would have saved that fight from becoming a joke but i reckon ref's would start using it too often just like they do in the amateurs. If you were given a standing 8 in the pros would that be an automatic 10-8 round like a genuine knockdown usually is? If so then it could destroy fights.

Ward Gatti would have had a standing count every 20 seconds...lol

I you want a 'standing 8 count' touch down with a knee or glove, otherwise your in danger of been stopped, correctly or not!

Maybe allowing Shannon Briggs to take an inhumane beating for the last three rounds of his fight with Vitali has changed IJL's outlook? Briggs had a spell in intensive care after that fight. IJL said: "His corner said he was fine to continue" when it was pretty obvious that he wasn't, and its got bugger all to do with his corner anyway.

I haven't seen the Maccarinelli stoppage yet but by all accounts it was early. I think IJL may have let pre fight concerns cloud his judgement re Enzo.

At what point did Enzo deserve to be given a standing 8 count last night?

he caught mckenzie with a few good shots in the 2nd and considering ovills stamina doubts i was thinking enzo might have done him later on

as i said in another thread, the standing 8 was not needed, if IJL had quickly realised his mistake he could have pretended the ropes were holding enzo up, that is a legitimate reason for an 8 count. we know the ropes were not keeping enzo up but at least it would have been a get out clause for IJL.
