yeah i also struggled to give mosley a round :-?

i thought he'd win a close one but jeez there was only 1 man in it

mosley is just not a light middleweight, why do they go thru thru the weights like that???

mosley was a terrific lightweight who would have give any lightweight in history problems.

So who made a few quid on this one?

I so nearly backed Wright, but sorta forgot about it when I sat down to watch Booth/Ropbinson.

Oh well

Yep, I knew this would go the distance as neither fight gets knocked out... so had money on Winky @ 4/1 for a points decision over Mosley. Nice.

Mosley looked like s**t, he hasn't looked great for a while to be honest, but I didn't think he would be that bad. Mosley is a combination puncher, only he doesn't throw combinations anymore. :-? To be a bit more positive, Mosley started out at lightweight, so he's well above his natural weight. For this reason he can't be given to much stick, and "Winky" Wright is also a very good fighter. "Winky" Wright finally got his career defining fight, so i'm pleased for him.

No, there are no excuses about the weight. Sugar looked ripped at 154, and he said himself that he is a full blown junior middle. He got outboxed to nonsense, no more, no less. Winky made it hard for Shane, nothing else. I saw Mosley on the mitts the other week, and he looked great. Everyone in his camp agreed on this too.

Winky won rightfully cos all along, all these years, he was the better man. End of story.

and so the exuses start... according to mosley

"For some reason when I came into the ring I felt like I was dehydrated,"

"I couldn't move. It was a monkey on my back.

He added: "I think (the defeat) was more on my part than his part. I don't feel he was overwhelmingly strong."

Why is it some boxers in particular just have problems with admitting they got well beat

According to fightnews.com theres a rematch clause which bot fighters are keen to use though wrights targetting trinidad.

If that's how he felt, then so be it.

But we all saw him get spanked.

I fancied Mosely to win too, felt the opportunity had possibly come too late for Wright but he was superb, I scored it 117-111. His defensive work, catching all those shots on the gloves was awesome.

I as a Mosely fan was dissappointed by his performance I had it 114 - 120 to Winky and I was being generous to Mosely!

Since moving up to 154lbs Shane seems to have halfed his workrate, I think the Forest loses has taken something away from him, in the same way Don Curry was never the same after the Honeygan fight.

I agree why boxer’s don’t like to admit that they ware S***T :x ! On their last fight!
Not like prince NAZ  ! When he lost to Barara he admit that he was S**T!

Winky clearly won the fight, Mosley was marginally worse than when he fought De La Hoya but this time didn't get gifted a decision although i thought it was possible the way his corner was so calm...i was expecting they knew something we didn't or more to the point feared but alas the decision was the correct one. Mosley looks bloated and lethargic at Light Middle with no hand or foot speed, people say he is strong at the weight and hits harder but if he doesn't throw any punches what use is that?! This was a certain 50/50 fight and i regret now going for Mosley on the prediction league as i fancied Wright to win but i suppose judging the form guide Mosley had the egde, i have seen Wright's last fight with Angel Hernandez and he looked stale HBO commentator Larry Merchant had him losing if i recall! But it was just a case of not getting up for the fight.

Wright's extra strength and jab work clearly won this fight and the 116-112 judges scorecard wreaked of a poor judge, any Boxing fan could see that even during his better rounds when Mosley actually threw punches he wasn't landing on anything but gloves, arms and thin air. This is justice for Wright's lack of big fights and the time he was robbed against Vargas...now the big boys should sit up and take note and Mosley...your finished mate but you have one valuable golden egg left, De La Hoya NEEDS you for redemption and his own kind of ego driven revenge...Take the money and run my friend  :D

Mosley is the only top pfp fighter of the past decade or so who has been thoroughly dominated twice now.He really looks shot.

I hope Winky can enjoy a good run as champ now.His style reminds me of Marlon Starling in the way he picked of Mosley's shots on hte gloves and arms so easily

What an enjoyable fight.
I thought Mosley won the last round, but that's all.
However......
As they were announcing the decision, I was as nervous as hell for Winky.
I guess it's a sign of how little faith I have in judges.
I know it sound ridiculous, but I actually feared a Mosley points win.
Anyone else not so sure?

I picked Mosley to win emphatically beforehand. I thought he would body-punch the shop worn Winky into oblivion.

As it turns out Ronald Wright is still very much a man at his peak, bloody big respect to him for maintaining his drive and dedication after 50 fights. What a true professional.

One thing this does tell us - De La Hoya is going to get WALLOPED by Hopkins. If the Golden Boy struggles so badly with the strength of Mosley (who was pretty well exposed by a legit light-middle) how on earth will he cope with the king of the middleweights?

Trinidad v Wright would be worth seeing though. Tito wouldn't be bullied like Mosley no way.

Wright v Hopkins would be a corking match for the purists too.

I dont know what all the fuss is about. Moseley is overrated, certainly as a 154 pounder.

I knew Wright would beat him, Winky belongs in the P4P list and Moseley did as a 135lbder, but not now.

In a rematch, same result or late stoppage for Winky.

I knew Wright had the goods to beat Mosley, who is far too musclebound these days, and should never have fought

Mosley has ruined his career by chasing after Oscar as he went through the weights. I don't believe that Mosley was struggling to make welterweight for a minute.

Look at pictures of him as a lightweight compared to now, he was like a stick of licorice before, now he looks like a body builder, he's carrying too much tight muscle tissue now.

Mosley is nearing the end now, I don't see where he can go from here.

I think this fight might put Oscar off fighting Bernard. If Mosley couldn't put a dent in a light punching light middleweight like Winky, how can he hope to earn Bernard's respect.

I thought Mosley was going to get another shonky decision, I'm glad that the right guy got the decision.

that wasnt his last fight Calvo was, and he more or less said the aufdience were shit for booing him in a lacklustre performance. Sorry to burst your bubble.

On a more positive note Winky gave Shane a lesson on Sat night, I thought he would be too strong and too big for Shane but the performance was nearly a shut out, outstanding and good luck to Winky bout time he got some recognition, As for Shane I dunno I have thought for some period of time he was never the same fighter post forrest, I meant he hasnt legitimately won afight for over two years (de la hoya included really)So it does point to fighter on the slide.

Shane hasn't got a single convincing victory at light middleweight, and looks to be in the wrong weight division. He's become too short and stocky now, well he was always short, he hasn't shrunk, but he's too tight now, and should seriously consider moving back down in weight.

Wright has a good shot of beating anyone at light middle, he's the man, for now, I wouldn't think Oscar would have an easy night against Wright.

I backed Winky in the prediction league and he pretty much dominated as I expected...Winky is a very under-rated fighter and has excellent boxing skills....

I am pleased as punch for Winky and hope he gets the opportunity to box DLH and earn some decent money.

I just thought Winky was a worn out fighter, I was wrong, he's at the absolute top of his game still.

Oscar would be punished by this guy, no doubt about it.

Wonder what Harry Simon makes of it all? He must be feeling like shit.

what happened to Simon, last I heard he was in an awful car crash has he made any progress or is he finished?
As for Winky, think he has been one of the most under rated fighters out there for some time, I put him in a P4P lists a long time ago (bout 2 yrs) and got slated probably quite rightly at the time, but Ive always thought he was vastly underated by most.
Also for de lay hoya, well if winky did that to mosely, it could point to a long nights work when oscar fights Nard. What about Winky fighting Nard, that would be a pull surely?
I would be considering my options if I were de la hoya.
