Winky is no better off in the big scheme of it....

Just minutes ago, WBC President Jose Sulaiman informed Boxingtalk.com that undisputed junior middleweight champ, Ronald "Winky" Wright, has ten days to send the WBC written confirmation that he intends to face interim titlist, Francisco Javier Castillejo NEXT. If Team Wright fails to comply with the WBC's ruling, which they were fully aware of prior to the Mosley fight, Sulaiman says Wright would immediately be stripped and Castillejo would become the new WBC junior middleweight champion. It is somewhat disturbing that instead of of working together prior to last night's unification bout, the WBC, IBF, and WBA have done nothing but create more confusion. Both the WBA and IBF are demanding that they're mandatories-Travis Simms and Kassim Ouma-get taken care of next, "however, the WBC has an interim champion, not a mandatory challenger, therefore we are not in a position where things could get done like if Castillejo were JUST a mandatory," said Sulaiman, who definitely feels his interim champion should take precedence over any other mandatory, "We've had the interim title ongoing for two years; this is something we must take care of now."
Bastards.
Someone is gonna strip him of their title and let Tito fight for it, it's obvious now.

In fairness Castillejo has been interim champion for nearly 2 years now. I think the WBC are being bastards, because they've now got a champion they can bully and force to accept the rules. Mosley and especially De La Hoya were big enough stars to be above the law.
I know boxing's a strange sport, but this is a possible scenario:
Wright is stripped of the WBC belt.
Trinidad decides/is coerced by King to have a warm up bout.
Wright makes his IBF mandatory against Ouma.
King pays Simms handsomely to defend the 'WBA' belt against Trinidad.
Meanwhile Castillejo is defending the WBC belt against Vargas.
Should they come through, Wright & Trinidad square off at the end of the year.
The winner has a rematch with Vargas for the undisputed title.
Of course that could all mess up;possibly immediatley because of the rematch clause Mosley supposedly has.

I thought the WBC gave undisputed champions that bogus "Emeritus" title?
If they don't, it just shows how bent they are.

I always thought Trinidad would return at middleweight, not 11st. His last two fights were at 160 and he said this would be the weight he would continue at.

You're thinking of a Hopkins rematch then?
Unless Eastman v Trinidad is an option

The WBC are a bunch of wankers. You hit the nail on the head there Stylist me old china, they don't mind pissing Winky off, because he won't be giving them the enormous sanctioning fees Oscar would.
fornicate them anyway, Winky has it on a platter now, Mosley wants a rematch, which Wright will get paid more for, and will win again, Trinidad wants him, which is another fight Winky can win, and Oscar may or may not fight him.
Winky is going to earn some good money now, with or without all the belts.

Winky's jab has got to be the best since Larry Holmes at his peak.
Mind you, I was greviously disappointed in Mosley. The best punch against a southpaw is a left hook. Ask Jim Watt. He's been saying it for years.
But Mosley, on the advice of his father, kept winging right hands.

I don't know if its the best punch - straight right hand followed by a left hook is the combination.
Ask Calzaghe about the straight right hand.

No, no, no. It's a myth. Wait for the southpaw to jab, then bang in a left hook as he's pulling the jab back. It blindsides them. Sibbo used to love destroying southpaws that way (Hagler apart, who destroyed him).
When you throw a straight right at a southpaw (as so many trainers encourage) it leaves you a sitting suck for a southpaw left counter over the top.

I hate seeing trainers encourage fighters to throw the straight right hand against southpaws. A good left-hooker will always have a real shout against southpaws. Robin Reid has never lost to a southpaw, for instance.

Calzaghe?

I doubt the WBC or whoever else would be putting this type of pressure on Mosley had he won the fight whivh they no doubt expected, these "presidents" have no interest in Boxing but simply making money from the sport, plain and simple. Most organisations are corrupt and Boxing doesn't need them, however just to contradict myself! I think Wright-Castillejo would be a good fight, Castillejo showed against DLH that he is a solid Light Middleweight and he should give Wright a good match.
As for Trinidad-Hopkins i cannot see any other outcome unless Hopkins grows old overnight, he is such a classy Boxer and Tito's one dimensional power punching won't faze him...same result for me although it may go to points this time.

Well, officially he has - however I thought he beat Calzaghe aswell. Anyway, Calzaghe is open for the straight right hand - that was the shot that Reid used so effectively. It was also Charles Brewer's pet punch but somehow he decided a swinging (note - not straight) right hand would work vs Joe. It didn't.
Richie Woodhall gave an excellent account for himself, cause he was throwing straight right hands continiously at Calzaghe, if he was little fresher and stronger he would have beaten Joe.

Reid won it in my opinion, but, yes, I did forget the best pound for pound fighter in Britain
Good spot.

I had Reid winning too, he was a little daft with his fouling though and had a point deducted. Eubank, Woodhall, Reid all exposed Calzaghe's weakness for the right hand but wasn't it a LEFT HOOK that Mitchell threw to drop Joe in there fight?

Well my favourite southpaw Sweet Pea was rarely fazed by left hookers. DLH caught him a few times, but I still say he lost that fight. Politics. That's why I can't stand Oscar.
