It has to be one of the funniest results in a boxing ring. I was a big fan of Campbell but he lost and it was all his own doing.

Apparently he was in well controll of his fight with Penden winning close to every round, then he started getting cocky leaving his chin out ala Sugar Ray Leonard taunting Penden to hit him. Penden did and Campbell was out of there with 2:57 gone of round number 5.

Let's try and turn this into a "most embarrassing knockdowns/knockouts" thread.

One knockdown that instantly springs to mind is the first one Richie Woodhall suffered at the hands of Markus Beyer. As I recall Woodhall was trying to be cocky, flicking out jabs from the waist, like he was somehow controlling the fight with ease. Next thing Beyer launches that trusty left cross and knocks Richie flat on his arse.

I was watching a Matchroom compilation of "The best Knockouts" the other day, and it struck me how so many fighters got chinned after they'd been tagged with a good shot, lost their concentration by getting cocky and, moments later, got caught with a knockout shot.
It happened time and again on tape.
Sugar Ray Leonard's knockdown against Kevin Howard in 1984 was embarrassing for the Sugar Man. He was goading Howard at the time and got tagged a good one. I seem to remember Leonard's knockdown at the hands of Tommy Hearns in their rematch in 1989 was even more embarrassing. Ray got caught with a long right, beckoned for Tommy to try it again, so Tommy did just that and landed a second hurtful right. Again, Leonard hadn't learned his lesson and beckoned Hearns to have another go, and the third long right dropped him.
What a plonker.

Silly boy Campbell he was onto a winner earning good money down in Florida and his only loss was over the distance to Joel Casamayor who is undeniably world class. He needs to get out and about more and try and get some paydays before his career is finished, isn't he knocking on a bit?

yeah, there was a lot of needle in that fight.... obviously i am not too keen on that one

Why couldn't Naz really deliver in the States (where he was - and still is - phenomenally popular)? Just one of those baffling anomalies I suppose.

The greatest light welterweight of them all, Aaron Pryor, had an embarrassing moment in the first round of his warm up to the Arguello superfight.
Facing the little known Akio Kameda, he decided to dance around the ring with his hands down, circling his confused challenger without throwing a punch for about two minutes.
Then Kameda had a brilliant idea: he stepped in and cracked Pryor on the jaw, sending him tumbling to the canvas.

Aaron somersaulted once, leapt to his feet and landed a right cross on Kameda before the bemused ref had even had a chance to start the count
