I though when Flintoff rushed him, he just had no idea what to do, hence his lack of punches.

Possible to vote for all 3?

Did Flintoff actually land on him. I haven't put myself through it again but I seem to remember him moving away quite easily and reading every punch thrown. He seemed to leave his "offense" at home though. Was that deliberate?

I think he got a fat bonus for his performance, he put Flintoff down and didn't follow
up which says it all.

When watching him fight, Dawson looked like he at least knew what he was doing. In terms of technique he was much better than Freddie. To me Freddie got the decision because unbelievably, he was very fit and his work rate won him the rounds. Dawson was symptomatic of American heavies - simply out of shape. I don't think it was fix, they just chose an unfit guy with minimal experience.

Maybe the occasion got to him?

Dawson had only had 1 amateur fight, and 2 pro fights on club shows. He was hardly going to be top class, he knew the basics i'm not sure what else anyone was wanting?

In retrospect his appearance at the Manchester Arena is even more insane than Freddie's, must have been amazed when he was plucked to take a fight in a arena.

That's what I felt, defensively he easily handled Flintoff, the cricket player barely landed a punch.
However Dawson never threw anything back, esp after Fred got dropped with that little shot.
Was this because he froze? Was too unfit? Or just did not try?

He might have looked unfit but he only had to fight for eight minutes maximum and yet hardly threw anything. I take it the trip over here was well worth it.

Flintoff landed his best shots when Dawson ducked low. Up against the ropes he was only really slapping
