Was just reading tyson fury talking about being rated no1 with the WBC after the weekend.
I had a look on fightnews for the rankings and they still have him listed 3rd behind Arreola and Stiverne. but it may not have been updated.

Anyway, was just wondering. if he is rated no 1 and he got the call to face vitali next. would you take it?

he has to fight the arreola vs stivernne winner in a final eliminator before vitali or if vitali retires the final eliminator becomes a fight for the vacant title

If he gets offered a fight against Vitali then he should accept.

Its hilarious how he calls himself wbc number 1. He was number 3 and just beat number 32 in the rankings lol

I think Fury is pretty close to peaking.

I'd give him more chance of beating Vitali than Wladimir actually whereas with Price I'd give him more chance of beating Wlad than Vitali.

Fury's strength against Vitali would be that his workrate is very good and he is quite quick. His punch would do nothing to either of the brothers in my view and as Vitali is more laboured than Wlad he'd have more of a chance.

Cant believe anybody rates or gives Fury any sort of chance against any top heavyweights. Im not a David Haye fan but he would KO Fury. Fury is British level at best and if he is what we are offering up as world class heavyweight we are in trouble. Cant punch and footwork is awful. He lost against john mcdermott regardless, and price would also beat fury easily.

In an interview in last week's boxing news he insisted he wants Wlad, although if I was him I would have a few more fights before it. Fair play to winning all of his fights so far, but by his own admission, Kevin Johnson was the best opponent he's faced to date, the leap up to Wlad could be one too far. Maybe take on Helenius or someone of that calibre next

You may as well burn your money, fury has a very good jab and his defence is now looking a lot better. If you look at the progress between his last two fights i could only assume he will be better in his next fight - tyson needs to work on his range of punches and learn how to vary his punch target. Eg he had multiple opportunities to land an uppercut on johnson and yet opted to jab, however johnson had started to defend against tyson jab but tyson didnt then start looking to switch it up.

I was pretty impressed with fury.

x 2 - i wouldnt bother with price if i was him, it would be great for us but potentially they could end up having a world title clash by the end of 2013 instead of a domestic clash which is going to severely hinder one of their careers and big paydays.

Price and fury should both be looking at taking out the opposition - stivern, povetkin, arreola, wilder, helenius etc and targeting the klits or each other after beating one or two of them. That way they could both be considered world class and that makes it a super fight if they meet, its better for the sport and us in the long run.

Definitely, we are forever complaining about the state of the HW division and as soon as a couple of exciting prospects come along, everyone is in far too much of a rush for them to face eachother straight away!

Just to be clear though, when I say "more of a chance", I'd still give him virtually no chance of beating either brother. He'll get starched by Price anyway along the way if he'd have the balls to fight him.

I'm not a huge Fury fan but I think he beats Povetkin on points, he's just too big and he is finally beginning to fight 'tall', which he must do to be succesful IMO

Povetkin is on the fade for me, I don't rate Huck and he gave the bigger Povetkin fits. I'd take that fight in a heartbeat

I'd agree - Fury has all the hallmarks of a guy who will burn out early. I think he is the kind of guy who would struggle to come back from a bad defeat. I'd give it another couple of fights against Ustinov, Chambers, Glazkov, Boytsov, Chagev, Adamek types and then go into a Vitali/Povetkin bout. I'd give him a good shot at winning as well, so long as he keeps boxing sensibly

Didn't Fury say in an interview that Manny Steward told him he would be "WBC champion"? I found it funny that Steward would have been so specific as to the sanctioning body.

To be fair he lost to price in amateurs then lobbied for a rematch, lost that and now fancies another one!

Dont see why he cant keep going as long as he wants to. He doesnt have to make weight like fighters in lower weight classes, and with his size he can be a nightmare for anyone, especially as his jab improves as he progresses.

Fury and Price have only fought once haven't they?

Tyson is a traveller and a lot of chaps from this walk of life peak early physically. You are considered to be a man aged around 14 in that environment. I know lads aged 30 who look 15 years over than they actually are with similar backgrounds. Tyson has always looked older than his actual years.

Being a heavy means he should have a longer shelf life though.
