I see Hughie Fury is closing in on the world youth title. How many heavies have we had win this title? My amateur knowledge is basic, at best.

At heavy you mean? Really? Repeating myself id probably score higher with 'life and times of claire balding' than i would with amateur boxing as my specialist subject. Ive always wondered if i could go on and choose "the life and times of 'wales' (me) 2000-2010" as my subject.

But I seen hughie spar 1 of my lads also an unbeaten pro heavyweight a while ago he is very good for his age

I don't know about heavyweight or winners in any division but we've definitely had medallists in the world juniors, Ricky Hatton got a bronze in 96 and Robin Reid got a silver in 89.

Just looked again and it does say world "youth" which I've never heard of unless it's the juniors renamed, I just presumed it's the world juniors.

Youth is for 17-19 year olds or something like that.

Juniors will be younger. Ones to watch out for the future are Ted Cheeseman of the the Fisher and Jack Bateson.

Early signs look like he is top quality. I don't watch too much amateur boxing if I'm honest seen him a couple of times fighting against what looked to my untrained eye as bigger and older lads and schooling them. Local papers give him some good coverage too so able to track his progress through there. As I say all things look good and when he's been quoted he seems like a kid whose really got his head screwed on and is taking it all very seriously - good luck to him!

Tyson was boxing for Ireland.

no he boxed for england as a jnr

he went in for ireland to get to the olympics as Price had the GB vest

i don't know Ted personally, but have seen him box quite a few times and know people from his club. He's supposed to be a very entrepreneurial guy with a great character. Hopefully he goes to Rio (a long way off I know) and does well. Such a great boxer to watch, patient, skilled and very strong.

Well, Hughie and Oliver Simpson have both won them this year.

Indeed, hughie is going under the radar a little. Making lots of noises about going to brazil, although surely Joshua, as reinging champ, will also fancy Brazil. Nice to see healthy competition for the lads coming through.
