yeah it wasnt a very close fight was it. On what evidence do you base this, as far as everyone can make out Elcock walked on to a peach of a punch whioch looks a bit lucky in retrospect.

It's slang. You can get away with either, it's not like Mr Collins or Mr Oxford are going to ask you to 'step outside' about it. I always use mullered, so if you're wrong, you've got company.

And Murphy needs to go back down a few levels and come up slowly, if he's going to come up at all. I can't see anything but Farnell 'mullering' him again in an immediate rematch.

Murphy got lucky, but his luck has been shortlived. Simple as that.

Those overhand rights he was caught with in the Farnell fight were textbook shots that shouldn't have landed at that rate at that level in professonal boxing.

No idea, I think you are correct - is Gerhard Muller the same as Gerd Muller of the 70's?

If yes, then it probably has as some connection with the 1970 world cup quarter final when Muller basically "Mullard" England.

Spot on Dean, I was there when he ko'd elcock and to be fair he caught elcock on the spot with a lucky punch, elcock will fight murphy next then the winner will fight the winner of farnell vs Lockett. I think Murphy proved he isnt the greatest thing to come out of Scotland

Maybe. Some people think it comes from the whole 80's Mad Mullah thing, so mullahed would mean wrecked in terms of blown-up. Don't suppose it matters one way or the other really. Certainly don't suppose it mattered to the fighters that Benn mullered... Or mullahed.

I said all along that the shot Murphy landed was a lucky shot, if you watch in slow motion, it's part of a pretty ineffectual looking 4 punch combo, which were all arm shots, it was the third shot I think, and you see Murphy throw the final punch, and then a look of surprise that Elcock has gone down. He knew that it wasn't solid enough to provoke that kind of drastic reaction normally.

Those sort of shots aren't planned, had it landed anywhere but the temple it would have been shrugged off.

This is no disrespect to Murphy, but that was a lucky punch, and flattered to deceive. His shortcoming and lack of experience were brutally exposed by Farnell, and I don't see how the outcome could be any different in a rematch.

Murphy seems like a nice guy, but like I've said on another thread it may be a long road back to the top for him, due to his decisive lose to Farnell who with the greatest of respect made Murphy look like a novice.

Some of you wordsmiths are way out with your predictions on where the word "mullered" comes from (German sportsman ).

It is infact a Romany word that means "Dead". Many Cockneys adopted certain Romany words such as: cushty, mullered, chavvy etc etc...

Also the spelling is irrelevant as it is just phonetics, there is no Romany dictionary.
