Mr chunky is at it again aka James de gale now he wants the one and only Carl Froch !!!! Why would Carl fight mr arrogant his self when he's a world champ and got 2 super fights on the cards. This guy really needs to get a grip and start fighting some young recognised fighters. Look what happened last time he fought a young top kid (George groves) he got whooped

However many fights they've had is pretty irrelevant, Degale is the European champion and has made a few defences and won some WBC trinket the other night, he's fringe world class now, the next step up is a title shot, so why shouldn't he be calling out Froch? He wasn't actually calling him out for his next fight. He was saying pretty much if he keeps winning and gets a World title then him and Carl as a unification would be a great fight, and would be the big all British fight that Carl didn't get against Calzaghe.

So a european champion, who's next natural step up is to fight for a world title, is wrong to be putting his name in the frame for a world title shot. Stupid thread this.

Why? He's only had two fights since narrowly beating Degale who has had four winning some trinkets on the way plus i think if you have a hello kitty tattoo it automatically disqualifies you from fighting for a world title.

Nothing wrong with Degale keeping his name out there, being respectful and winning fans to boot.

Surely a european champ ranked 11 in world is more deserving than a british champ ranked 13. I no groves got the win against degale, an as stupid as this may sound, i think degale lost it rather than groves winning it, as in degale controlled the fight when he wanted, then for whatever reason took to many rounds off.

I'm Froch's biggest ball tickler / fluffer - and I can't see anything wrong with what Degale has said to be fair.

Personally, I think Degale has started getting his act together a bit more and it's easy to remember he has still had just 14 fights.

Froch had a difficult fight with Adamu in what, his 12th fight or something and look where he is now.

I'm not saying Degale will get there or not, but it's always better they talk maturely about the big fights with a level head... than shouting Mayweather's name in vain from your Bolton drawing board.

They haven't. Froch made an approach to DeGale's camp prior to the Lucian Bute fight stating he wanted DeGale to spar with him as he is a tall fast handed Southpaw like Bute is, but the offer was turned down despite Froch very kindly offering to pay his sparring and for his hotel room etc.

5 are doing well to humanize DeGale after FW blowing smoke up his arse for the last few years

As I said earlier in the thread I don't think there is anything wrong with what he actually said (as opposed to what the headline made out he was saying.) And actually, if he does win a World title, whether it be WBO or Vacant WBC, I would like to see a Unification with Froch if Froch still had a World title.

Unfortunately I can already see the promotional problems getting in the way.

Profile? He's a gold medal winner whose fights are now screened on terrestrial tv. If he wanted profile, he could have started the Groves bashing again because given their history (and the fact the DG isn't ready for Froch), it would have stirred more interest.

He just made a fair comment, which I can assure you must be fair given Gomez' response, but yet a load of whinging old women start hammering him. Just back off, let the man do his thing. As long as he shows respect to Froch, which he did, then I've no issue with it.

You can always further increase your personal and professional profile. Degale is probably right to have stopped mentioning Groves and to have started mentioning world titles and big names. In this country Degale is (rightly or wrongly) already better known than Froch (and every other super middleweight on the planet). Internationally this is clearly not the case and it is important that he's started to do something about that. If the big fights are going to come, he needs to get known and appeal to a wider audience. This means continuing to band his name around and, more importantly, impress against known entities in the ring. That's why he should've stepped-up and stopped his opponent the other night rather than dragging the fight out and cruising to a decision.


By the way, I like Groves and think he's a good fighter but there's a real danger he's going to get stuck in a rut and totally fall off the radar screen.

As those two are the only two fighters to have beaten Froch, surely him calling out Froch is the correct thing to do? Had he said "Right I want Ward next" I've no doubt you'd have started a thread saying "Degale is mouthing off again, making out he's good enough to leapfrog Carl Froch and challenge his conquerer"
