(Mods, forgive me if you think this is more suited to Boxers of the Past)

Following on from the earlier pound for pound topic, I'd be interested to know people's All Time Pound For Pound Top 10 Most Watchable Fighters.

This could give posters some ideas of fighters to check out on YouTube that they may not be too familiar with. Thanks.

BTW don't limit your choices to British and Irish.

I loved watching gatti for excitement.

Sweet pea for the silkiest skills to grace the sport.

Srl & rjj for flashy & cleverness

Durans tenacity was supreme.

Hearns & Tyson for exciting explosiveness.

Toney & mcallums ring generalship & inside fighting.

I love & appreciate all aspects.

Loved all the above, but I'll add Herol Graham and Kirkland Laing, both for their mercurial genius.

Many of these wouldn't appear on my All Time P4P list but they are the guys I like watching the most. I've cheated on number one.

1. I'll group the following: Ali, Holmes, Foreman, Frazier, Norton, Lyle, Shavers. They didn't all fight each other but I do associate them all with each other and that era of heavyweight boxing was simply brilliant.

2. Diego Corrales

3. Thomas Hearns

4. Joe Louis

5. Bob Foster

6. Ray Robinson

7. Felix Trinidad

8. Salvador Sanchez

9. Carlos Monzon

10. Erik Morales

Not far off for me either, good list. my all time favourite though would be Joe Louis, thought he was great. And I liked Mickey Ward for pure heart, toughness, grit & determination.

Kostya Tszyu has always been my fave throughout the years. Followed by Cotto, young Hatton and Froch.

Couldn't sit through a heap of Ali fights if you paid me I'm afraid.

Most of mine wind up also being my favourite fighters, which kind of makes sense I suppose, but these guys I always get or got excited to watch their fights:

Nigel Benn
Joe Calzaghe
Miguel Cotto
JMM
Pacquiao
Shane Mosely
Mikkel Kessler
Ricky Hatton

I'm with you on Ali. Great fighter, but jeez, way too much coverage of the guy and everyone has kind of seen it all 10 times. And to top it off, as relatives know my love of boxing I just get inundated with Ali gifts at Xmas as they are the easiest available.

i knew ali would take some crit on this thread but he was a new type of heavyweight when he turned pro - not just the lip - and i found him watchable because of the adjustments he was forced to make as he grew older and slower. thats why i put him in my list - totally agree about the xmas prezzies....PLEASE NO ALI STUFF, MRS PUNCH

Ali has grown on me as I've gotten older. I used to be a fan and then drifted away but I absolutely love watching his fights again now. For a while I got too deep into the sports science side of life and consequently massively overrated some of the contemporary fighters; a number of whom are fitter, stronger and more muscular than Ali and co but fall way short in other departments. I'm back to my roots again now and whilst adequate conditioning is clearly important, skills, heart, desire and toughness are also required to pay the bills. Ali had all that in spades.

Hearns – easily above and beyond the rest when it comes to pure excitement.
Benn – kill or be killed
Bruno – watching his tank run dry with every punch he threw, not sure if he gets there first or not
Tyson – KOs
Jackson – great punch + average chin = great entrtainment
Khan – similar to above
Haye – forgive him the Klitschko fight and he was almost always in a give and take battle
Colin Jones – murderous puncher who usually dozed through the opening rounds meaning he was always coming from behind

Whittaker??? Really? The guy was hardly ever in a competitive fight?

Tyrell Biggs? I always really liked him, but he wouldn't make this list for me. What was it about him?

Augustus is a good pick.
