Your welcome. I was originally looking up stuff on Primo Carnera, but unfortunately most of the really interesting films were all in Italian, and did not understand much of it. I can read a little bit of Italian, but dont process it too good when its spoken lmao. I just happened to come across this when I was looking and said, "You dont see things like this that often!" and thought I'd share.

I dont know if you can find a better visual image of either boxer of that time.
Primo Carnera looks like he may have been part Minataur.

I seen the Prizefighter and The Lady twice, and I am amazed at Baer's skills as an actor considering he never acted before. The mock battle between him and Carnera reminds me of other famous mock battles in movies, such as Schmeling vs Santa, Klitschko vs Lewis, etc. It is also one of the more realistic black and white era "matches" on film, in comparison to such classics as The Champ where the action was speeded up and the punches were just looping round houses.

There is a recent dvd release of a series called Vitaphone Varities
but I think it focus is on the late 1920's releases where you had to play a record seperate from the film.

Unrelated, but the only known footage of boxing champion Corporal Izzy Cupid is him sparring with then unknown heavyweight Primo Carnera
