Damn I was looking forward to that one - I still think that that it should have been a eliminator for Corrales, but it was a good fight.
Not that I'm saying Rees or Gomez are anywhere near the standard of Corrales, its just if the IBF could sanction IBF #7 Glencoffe Johnson as worthy to fight in an eliminate (later promoted to full title) then surely fighters involving two of the top five as rated by the WBO could be an eliminator.
Gomez should have an easier night now.

Yes, this fight looked interesting. Believe it or not, I've yet to see Rees fight. I'm told he is a pressure fighter who keeps coming forward. Is this correct?

Yes that's a pretty acurate description. I've only seen him a few times but he looks a handful. Real shame this fight is off, could have been the fight of the night easily.
I saw Rees walking around at Cardiff Castle in 2002, after his easy one round blow out, and I was amazed at how small he actualy is.
Checked boxrec and he's listed at 5ft 3".
He's somehow rated number #1 at WBO last time I looked. It'd be a pretty bizzare sight to see him in the with 6 foot Corrales..

Can you imagine Gomez or Rees in with Corrales? It doesnt bear thinking about!! There's talk of Freitas v Corrales at 135 if that happens Warren will prob try and match the pair for the WBO belt when Rees is fit again. Better than the WBU I suppose.

6 foot is a hell of a height for a super feather..almost unnatural.

Yes, he's a typical Enzo Calzaghe fighter: aggressive, superfit, and throws quick bursts of punches to head and body.
He also has a surprisingly good jab for a small man.

Yes Diego looks like a mini Thomas Hearns in there, punches like him too.
I don't think the Rees camp are too interested in that one, and you can't blame them.
I wonder how he got rated to high at WBO? The Calazaghe connection maybe?
Corrales v Morales is the fight I'd love to see in 2004.
