Over 20 fighters vying for final three places in Wolverhampton
The first five fighters have been selected for the Betfair Prizefighter Welterweights III at the Civic Hall, Wolverhampton live on Sky Sports on January 19.

The Civic Hall in Wolverhampton hosts it's second Prizefighter
Unbeaten trio Glenn Foot, Dale Evans and Chad Gaynor are joined by ‘Notorious’ Nasser Al Harbi and Karl Place in the 28th edition of Matchroom Sport’s eight-man, one night tournaments, with promoter Eddie Hearn having the tough task of picking the final three names from a list of 20 boxers.

The third Welterweight Prizefighter is part of a great line-up of boxing in the Black Country with Britain’s hottest young fighter Kal Yafai tasting his first action of 2013 as he hunts the big names and titles in the bantamweight division.

“I’m glad that we have selected the first five for the tournament but now I am left with a real dilemma with the final three,” said Hearn. “The interest has been overwhelming and I have some difficult decisions to make such is the quality of names in front of me. What is certain is that the eight fighters in the final line-up will put everything on the line to lift the trophy.”

Don't understand the hatred for Prizefighter, it is exciting, brings new fans into boxing, gives fighters, managers and trainers good paydays and lead to opportunities.

Hey Nas/Naj people dont hate PF they hate Eddie Hearns you only realise when you read what they say about his fighters.

Its competitive, which is all I really ask of Prizefighter.

WOW 28th Prizefighter,no wonder im getting fed up with it....

This is a good move for al Harbi, I think he could win it. His style takes a bit of fathoming out, I'm not sure if three rounds is long enough for most fighters to do that. Providing he keeps the work-rate up, he's got every chance.

Glenn Foot will be a handful in this.

I think Al-Harbi will be very difficult to pin down over 3 rounds and see him beating any of the names mentioned so far.

Be interesting to see if there is a big name going into this one since last time out there was a fair few in

It may do all of the above but it needs a serious revamp and that is what people are calling for. I don't watch it anymore because it has gone too stale and boring.

Eddie Hearn gets some stick here but Warren gets more. At least Hearn is making an effort to put on competitive fights.

I'm glad they've stopped dragging old relics out of retirement (remember the 1st Cruiserweight one?) it's a bit sad seeing a former champ cuffed about over 3 rounds by some novice young enough to be their son.

Saw Dale Evans last fight at Olympia, looked to put a lot of pressure on in that one, not sure if thats his style as I'd never seen him before. Was probably a good warm up for Prizefighter though going the distance in a 4 rounder.

Be interested to see Al Harbi after reading so much about him on here!!

I don't mind Prizefighter don't get me wrong I prefer "proper" 10 or 12 round fights, but a prizeifgher every couple of months is fine by me to be honest.

Ive seen loads of names banded about on twitter, Brough included , people like Young Mutley , Marvin Greaves , Nathan McIntosh , Terry Maughan and Ryan Hardy to name a few off the top of my head that ive seen .

Its probable best to just wait on the announcements otherwise we could be looking at 16 names rather than 8 .
