Was Kenny vice at world level or had jim deteriorated ? Jim was obviously a great amateur and pro but I watched Vice fight with Chavez who systematically broke him down with constant pressure and great body shots quite easily and Vice struggled only going 3 rounds but looks strong in this fight

It's a brutal KO.

Vice was no world beater but he was a big, strong lightweight. McD was coming off that beating from Nelson and I think it was his first fight @ 135 (prepared to be corrected though). Vice lost in 3 to Chavez but we're talking about a peak Chavez here who was ripping everyone a new one.

Vice was distraught after the knockout, 2 years before Brian Baronet died after losing to Vice in 10 rounds.

Yea when you watch the fight he seems to be punch perfect Vice has nowhere to hide its a great performance by Chavez who's skills i think are underrated he makes Vice look levels below

i thought jimmy looked a bit fleshy in this fight ? also how come he came back after 8 years out at the age of 38 ?

I remember Vice getting done in brutal fashion himself, a classic case of what goes around etc....

Vice was a good fighter and a strong, fit and good puncher. His manager/trainer at the time thought that the McDonnell camp were crazy to take/chase the bout. Great punch; McDonnell did really well with what he had and was very fit; he must have been difficult to beat, he had some good names on his record (and some great ones); Chavez was worlds away though in talent, skill and just about everything else at the time though. (It's a real shame we didn't get a prime 130lbs or 135lbs Chavez v Nelson; what a bout that would have been).
