What if they would have fought in 1981 or '82? Who wins this one?

Both fighters were favorites of mine. Pintor was one big win away from being a hall of famer, most notably Gomez.

Chandler was one of the underrated fighters of his time. If he didn't lose inexplicably to Muniz and Sandoval we would be speaking of him in the same conversation with Zarate, Olivarez and Jofre.

My opinion is that he got bored at the notion of fighting lesser fighters in an era when boxing on television was the rage and exposure was constant. He was far better than both and his final record would have been even more impressive than it already is.

As much as I loved Pintor, and I truly rooted for him as much as I rooted for any fighter, Chandler would have been too much for him if he was properly motivated.

Chandler at 118 was what I call a Monster. He had it all in terms of physical advantages and when he wanted to be great he was as great as they come.

Chandler by late round stoppage, probably on cuts while being way ahead on the scorecards.

And..Chandler only had a couple amateur fights. Rare amongst pro champs and I would say even more rare amongst the featherweights and below.

Excellent point. I forgot about that. I believe he had two amateur fights. Makes his accomplishments even more impressive.

Correct; he had two.
Chandler by decision for me.
The Muniz loss was at super bantam, and Chandler was dealing with cataracts by the time he faced Sandoval.

This could have been a great fight. Too bad it never happened. It could have been one of the biggest bantamweight fights ever.

Pintor got injured in a motorcycle accident after the Gomez bout; if not for that, maybe it could've happened in 83.

Chandler by wide decision, IMO. Loved to watch both, but I think Chandler was just a lot quicker and, when properly motivated, a stud at 118

Chandler by wide decision over Lupe in a tough fight.
