Tyson wasnt all there emotionally, mentally. Had Douglas of stayed down in the 8th round, Tyson would have been beaten by the next jabroni in line, regardless of whoever that would of been. Holyfield definately would have eaten him up. I believe a comebacking Foreman would have beaten him as well. Anyone with true grit would of beaten him.

Had Douglas stayed down in the 8th round and Tyson won by KO, I would definitely have expected Holyfield to beat him in the following fight - either by a wide decision or very late stoppage, much like their eventual fight. Tyson's career would then have gone on a similar path to how it actually did, beating Ruddock and remaining a top contender throughout the 90s. I can't see Lewis fighting Tyson before 1995 and I think it's likely Bowe would have avoided him.

Overall I think Tyson would have finished his career with a slightly better resume, but through wear and tear may have began to slide earlier.

For me the biggest slide in Tyson's performance and skill level wasn't prior to the Douglas fight, or prior to his release from Prison - it was between the second Holyfield fight and his win over Frans Botha. Tyson had noticeably lost a lot of speed, stopped moving his head and was relying on slow hayemakers, showing none of the boxing ability he had once had. Sure Tyson had declined prior to then, but never to that extent between fights.

Evander would have whipped his ass in the next fight. Tyson couldn't even beat Holyfield in his head.

Peak Tyson would have avoided prison with his head movement.

If Cus D'Amato was still in his corner, Tyson would've knocked Robin Givens clean out.

No for me its obvious the biggest slide was the obvious one. When he came out in 95 against mcneeley he was unbeleivably slow, tight and sloppy. He seemed tentative against a bum and didnt have the menace on his face he seemed so calm it was unbeleivable. He had hit the weights hard and it showed he was tight.

I think if Douglas stayed down in the 8th. Tyson would have had the wake up call he needed. Even the defensevilly slipping Tyson of 90-91 would have been too much for the Holyfield of 88-92. Tyson would have won that one in a close gruelling fight and he would have trained for Holyfield. After 92 people forget the incarnation of Lewis from 1991-94 was still not as good as he was after with E steward so if they meet in that time frame the depleted Tyson of 91 still beats him. Bowe would be the dangerman. In a rematch and if Tyson slid Holyfield might take him. And with his lax training guys like morrison and mercer would be a danger too.

The bottom line is, if Tyson beat Douglas and didnt go to jail we never would have seen him look as poor as he did from 95-99 in actuality. His form by the end of 2000 was quite good but by than he was masking his lack of hunger and stamina.

Tyson if he stayed in boxing would have eventually had to face(if only due to the boxing public pressure)
to fight a 42 year old George Foreman who would have(IMOP) surely flattened Mike Tyson
and thus take the BAAAAAAAAA out of the BDmn on the planet..

i dont think tyson would have seen douglas staying down in the 8th as a wake up call. no way. he would have seen that as "no matter what i do, how poor i fight they still go down coz theyre scared of me - i'm AM the baddest guy...etc" so he trains less, moves less, gets more sloppy...
