Gouged someones eye out in a car park brawl arising out of some long standing feud - got 11 year in prison, reduced to 9 years on appeal (on grounds that 11 years was "too harsh"!). Nice guy - well, Tyson thinks so anyway(?)mimmy123 wrote:can you tell me more?

mimmy123, are you trolling, mate? You honestly didn't know that Fury's dad was John Fury? How old are you?

Seriously I never thought about it before. I'm talking to John Westgarth about his life and I mentioned John Fury, but then googled the name. Honestly ive never thought about it until now. It's funny what we miss. I have some glaring gaps in knowledge that leave people astounded, to the point they think I'm taking the piss.mimmy123 wrote:Seriously I never thought about it before. Re: Gypsy John Fury
People are too happy to agree with what they read in the papers (in general, not just talking about John Fury) and this leads to the targets of that paper talk being defensive about any criticism or commentary, even on things which might actually be legitimate, amidst a slew of things that aren't.

Looking at his record and its surprising he never scored a KO in boxing, Tyson isn't the biggest puncher either.
Re: Gypsy John Fury
Strange that he got 9 years when people who've killed have got a fraction of that

Not being racist in the slightest, I have nothing against the community but am not sure he can be held up as a 'gentleman' after trying to gouge someone's eye out...?johnnykayo wrote:totally agree their, some are just bellends and still think its 1933 germany when hitler come to power :witzendmrpedigree wrote:My father tells me regardless of his crime John is a gentleman ,a man amongst men and very respected in our community

Re: Gypsy John Fury
I mean, initially, he got 11 years;
this guy got 10 for what was, essentially, going into someone else's flat armed with a knife and stabbing them to death:

Re: Gypsy John Fury
In a street fight there is no room for being a gent it would seem,imo John went to far in wanting to win/prove a point that day,i bet there is not a day goes by Fury Snr wouldn't give that man his eye back and be let out from that long stretch and come out watch his boy fight for a title.sharpei_louis wrote:Not being racist in the slightest, I have nothing against the community but am not sure he can be held up as a 'gentleman' after trying to gouge someone's eye out...?johnnykayo wrote:totally agree their, some are just bellends and still think its 1933 germany when hitler come to power :witzendmrpedigree wrote:My father tells me regardless of his crime John is a gentleman ,a man amongst men and very respected in our community

An eye for an eye ?
Re: Gypsy John Fury
you don't flick somebody's eye out though do you, it takes a few seconds probably. That's malicious unless you were trying to defend your life. Could he not be satisfied with twatting the bloke on the nose and be out inside a year or so? Put a knife halfway inside somebody's body, put a thumb about halfway inside somebody's skull, is there a big difference?dookus wrote:I mean, initially, he got 11 years;

The other bloke could have been a right scumbag but if he was a boxer he should have put something better together than a fcking thumbed out eye, at worst that is nasty and at best you can't control yourself.

Lads, the guy Fury snr was fighting would probably have gladly pulled both his ears off and gouged his eyes out first given half a chance. This was not Queensury rules but a brutal streetfight. Personally, and i have a fair knowledge of sentencing, i think he got hammered.

Re: Gypsy John Fury
Well said as always micky,i to thought he should of got like 6 year or something but 11 ?mickey1975 wrote:Lads, the guy Fury snr was fighting would probably have gladly pulled both his ears off and gouged his eyes out first given half a chance. Like someone else said above ,the sentencing in this country is so inconsistent no wonder nobody has any confidence in the justice system, there are people that take others lives getting 2-3 years as well as rapist of women a children getting the same,i i know which ones i would prefer doing 11 years and its not Fury Snr for some street fight.
