Would like to see Sykes in at British level again a underrated fighter in my opinion

I really like Gary Sykes very very under rated.. Very tidy boxer and I think he will win this one although it will be a tough one... A good fight for the winner of this one would be a fight against whoever wins the Scottish title Ronnie "The Shark" Clark or his opponent :) ..

Scottish Champ v English Champ

Sykes should take this on points. Hooper is game and very fit but is one dimensional and lacks power but this a great chance to announce himself domestically. Should be a fairly entertaining bout but Sykes is a level above and I'd expect him to win.

I've sparred loads of rounds with Kev over the years and every time I go back to spar he's got better and better, tough fight for him but he can pull it off

Really rate Gary had some great nights watching him in Huddersfield but he never seems to box there anymore.

He changed managers did Gary that's why he doesn't box in Huddersfield anymore ,as for British level another fight with Buckland would be good the winner would get to keep lonsdale belt outright

Gary Sykes will be too busy for Kevin Hooper, but Hooper will last the distance losing a UD.

hows hooper got the shot at super feather but never actually made the 9.4lbs limit?

That's a good point although Kevs a small light weight imo and has got well within the lightweight limit for his last few fights. He was around the 9st6 mark when he fought Speight for the masters title. As said good point though...

I think Sykes has the edge in this one but its a very good competitive fight and is good to see Sykes back at title level.. Be good to see the winner of this fighting Ronnie "The Shark" Clark... Ronnie is fighting in March for the Scottish title so would make a good Battle of Britain clash.. Or even the winner of either bout fighting the winner of Paul Trurscott V Ben Jones would like to see any of those fights come off..

If Sykes comes through, get him back in Buckland or Simpson they would be good fights , he's got a score to settle with Buckland .Always likes Sykes ,comes across as a nice down to earth laddie !

Think Buckland has Sykes number already beaten him twice so can't see that but Sykes against Simpson would be a cracker.. Styles make fights and I would love to see that fight.. It's funny I think Simpson has the beating of Buckland but I think Sykes would beat Simpson.. Lets hope we see these big fights this year

it dnt matter if he's a small lw or been 9.6lbs he's never made the super feather 9.4lbs limit. so shouldt really get the shot.

lw is where hes established himself n im sure theres established sf's out there who r more worthy of the shot than him just my opinion.

Kevs 13-0 and weighed in at 9st 5lb in his last fight winning the midlands title so the board are happy that he can make superfeather and that's why he's got the chance as long as he makes the check weigh ins ok that's all that matters.

I really wish hooper all the best. I've been in with both. And I must say Gary was on a different level entirely. Hit harder tho still not a big puncher but by far the superior boxer.a shutout points win for Sykes for me

Sykes won pretty handily in my opinion. 1 judge had it only by a point, the other two were slightly wider but not sure of the exact score.

I thought that the difference in levels became pretty apparent. Hooper has a good jab but is very negative and was never comfortable when he had to come forward to chase the fight.

Sykes looked good, in a pretty hostile atmosphere. Hopefully move on and get a shot at the british again once buckland moves on. He won me a few ££ aswel!
