Cuban heavies just don't seem to work out when going pro.

3 Key words in that statement are - don't work out. Training seems to be an issue for Perez and Co, they'd much rather party. It's a waste of talent.

Could he be being lined up for Price next....? Now that would be a good fight

I'd be surprised if they were looking at Perez for Price, the cuban doesn't hold any ranking in the 4 main world bodies. If Price gets past Thompson then i would expect his people to be looking at someone in the top 15, or the Euro title.

These Cubans get a taste of 'freedom' and can't be arsed it seems
Bit of a waste of talent but if u ain't got it upstairs your not going to go far in the pros

They should find a decent opponent for Perez, some fringe contender like Ustinov or Chisora would be good.

im pleased hes back he must of wasted a couple of years but i rate him as a serious talent if he can get his act together - certainly adds to an already strong uk heavyweight scene

Perez is going nowhere. He was a busted flush by 2006 when he was getting beaten by other Cuban light-heavyweights and was forced into eating himself up to heavyweight - where he got beaten even more convincingly. If he'd defected then and become a 6 foot light-heavyweight professional, he could've made an impact. As a heavyweight, no chance.

i wonder what his management team think of him not fighting all the time, what deal would he have with them, i mean does he work, or does someone pay his way it's a bit weird him not fighting more often ?

He could be a reserve in case Thompson pulls out - the promoter will want a decent opponent lined up in case of any problems rather than cancel the show or be scratching around last minute for an alternative opponent.
Perez has a date and is guaranteed a purse and a fight - if there is a problem with Thompson he can step in to face Price at late notice.
In order to agree to this, he might have also been promised a fight with Price after this one ?

Perez fights from Ireland, which is not the UK.
The colour of his trunks should also be a clue.

Anyone have any idea what happened to Luis Garcia, who turned pro with Perez? A lot of people thought he looked the business but he seems to have gone AWOL.

I think he went to America and signed a contract with someone there, but there is some dispute as he may have a contract with someone else.
