Yes, I saw this fight. Anything else?
no, but whenever it was Pipino has been hit much harder.Il Duce wrote:Angle Espada was floored in the 2nd Round, but did come back and fought some spirited rounds,SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Yes, I saw this fight. Anything else?
before not being able to come out for Round 12.
Somehwere in one of the middle rounds, he nailed Pipino with a big punch, that Pipino later said was
the hardest punch he had ever been hit with.
Pipino had a swollen jaw for 3-weeks after that bout.
Any idea of when that punch occurred.

Whom did you think was better? Shields? Very close fight that was.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:No doubt about it, so did Duran. Angel was a solid fighter, probably the second best guy Pipino beat during his reign.
That was before Hearns and Duran.Il Duce wrote:In early 1978,,,,,,,
In an interview on Spanish Television, 'Pipino' said that 'Cholo' Espada was the only fighter to
ever hurt him with a punch.
Pipino said that he was hit by a hook in the Espada II bout, and that his jaw was swollen for 3-weeks.
Harold Weston, I think he is really underrated. That happens to a lot of guys who don't have a big punch and fall short of the absolute top level.Rover wrote:Whom did you think was better? Shields? Since he was obviously hit harder more than once *after* that fight, rather pointless, I'd say.Il Duce wrote:No kidding, that's what I'm taking about 'nitwit'Rover wrote:That was before Hearns and Duran.Il Duce wrote:In early 1978,,,,,,,

I could see that. I'd probably have gone with Shields based on the closeness of the fight. Too bad Gray wasn't closer to his prime, and Ranzany was quality also.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Harold Weston, I think he is really underrated.
