As dodgey as the getup looks its pretty smart. Keeps him in the public eye and if he gets a big enough following might drum up ticket sales or at least get people watching his fights on TV.

I am sure he is getting well paid. Add to that his olympic gold medal and hero status in his hometown, I am sure he can handle a bit of ribbing.
