I don't think David Tua was ever dropped??? (was he?)

George Chuvalo, Randall "Texx" Cobb, Oliver McCall and Ray Mercer all have to be mentioned in a thread about good chins on Heavyweights. Who had the best among them is debatable, but without question all of these guys were tough as hell. Tua certainly had a sturdy chin as well.

Rahman unofficially dropped him and Barret officially dropped him .

Agree with this.

While he wasnt a natural heavyweight, more in line with middleweights, the greatest chin in history has to belong to Ironman Joe Grim who was made famous for putting out thousand dollar challenges to any man to knock him out. I think only Sam McVea was able to do this, but he was older when that match took place. Tommy Burns, Bob Fitzsimmons, Sam Langford, Jack Blackburn, Jack Johnson was unable to knock him out, though he was dropped several times.

With the way Marciano fought, you have to say that he must have had a good chin. Bonavena overall too, though he somehow got dropped by Jimmy Ellis twice.

Ali had a tremendous chin, especially after the layoff. The right hand Shavers hit him with at the end of the second round would have floored an elephant.

I watched it at the time.

I've watched it many times since.

I've watched it with other fans.

Anybody who I've watched it with agrees.

That was a knock-down, and should have been ruled as such.

There is a short, very quick left from Sanders to Vitali's chin immediately before he drops that caused it.
Not the initial left that staggers him, nor the glancing left as he chases him around the ring.

Watch it again.

Sanders body language tells the story.

I am a big Vitali fan, by the way, so I'm not running him down here.

Larry Donald for taking those clean bare-fisted blows from Riddick Bowe at the pre-fight press conference.

Got be McCall. He let Lennox Lewis tee-off on him without effect. Only Bruno ever hurt him - made his knees dip in the 2nd round.

Ali definitely had one of the sturdiest chins, especially amongst ATG Heavyweights.

George Foreman is often cited for having a good chin.

Oliver McCall must have the best chin of all-time.

He's been a professional for the best part of 30 years & yet he's never been dropped. Only Bruno made his knee buckle slightly as far as I am aware.

I don't think Foreman's chin was as good as the other mentioned. He got ko'd by Ali, almost ko'd by Lyle, and knocked down by Jimmy Young. Some of this was fatigue and an accumilation of blows, but chin was also a factor.

It is hard to choose from many of those mentioned:
Chuvalo got hit all the time yet kept coming back.
Ali never was hurt or knocked down during his prime, and was seldom hurt against some great punchers in the 1970s.
McCall of course. I do remember him being momentarily stunned by Bruce Seldon, although he wasn't in serious trouble.
I don't believe Cobb was ever decked during his prime.
Mercer was hurt and took a knee against Holyfield, but I believe that was the only time during his prime.

Marion Wilson had a horrible record but took some huge punchers the distance. Stopped once early in his career on cuts.

You know, all kidding aside, I'm still extremely impressed at how Donald wasn't seriously hurt by those blows . . he just took them like they were nothing. Not only were they complete cheap shots, but it wasn't your usual press conference blows that are more like slap-boxing shots . . Riddick really put his weight and force behind those blows, and Donald took them flush without so much as a look of pain on his face!!!
