When I saw Fernando Vargas as an amateur I said he'd go on to be a dominant undisputed champion. I still though that until part way through the first round against Trinidad.

Great idea for a thread. I thought Don Curry would become one of the best all time.
I thought Toks Owoh would do something at world level, same with Tony Collins.
Thought Benn was pretty much finished after the Watson defeat.
Didn't think Clinton Woods would ever do anything at world level.
Thought Hamed would still beat Barrera comfortably despite what was going on out of the ring
Thought Ryan Rhodes would handle Jason Matthews with ease.
Sure there's loads more, but those are the ones that first sprang to mind, especially the Curry one.

I thought Jeff Lacy would have a big career.

I was a million per cent sure Tszyu would beat Hatton and ended up on the Super Noodles for weeks afterwards as a result. Ditto Naz to beat Barrera. I also thought Murray would beat Mitchell, while I then smashed into Mitchell to beat Burns! Back in the day I fancied Micky Hunter to beat Molitor and had my full bank on the Easington Road Tornado at the time. I honestly thought Haye would beat Klitschko as well.

Career wise I thought Michael Gomez would win a world title after seeing his early work. I thought Richard Williams would win a world title as well, while after backing Johanesson to beat Burns in about 2005 (and watching him giving him a working over) I never, ever saw the Scot as a two-weight world champion! Respect to Burns, Britain's very own Cinderella Man. I though Zab Judah would do a lot more than he did too.

I thought there was no way Benn could beat McClellan, i was sure this one would be over in the americans favour inside of 5 rounds.

Also i thought Lloyd Honeyghan would just walk through Jorge Vaca the first fight, then i sat there in amazment at the sloppy performance by Lloyd.

I was certain Jones Jr was going to brutalise Tarver in the rematch.

After watching Gregorio Vargas beat Hodkinson , i thought there's a guy that will hold the title for a few years, he then never won another world title fight.

Same as Colin McMillan, i thought he'd be a p4p in the british ratings when i saw him box on the way up, it all seemed so natural for him, yes he won a world title , but i thought he'd be a long reign.

Me too! I sat there with my heart in my mouth through the first couple of rounds and nearly deafened the wife yelling at the screen when Froch hurt him in the 3rd. And for the rest of the fight.
