An internet warrior calls a man who fights for a living a coward. :shame:

Should the thread not be called :

Colin Kenna v Ian Lewison who wins?

Boofhead.

'Coward' is probably one of, if not the, biggest taboo words in boxing for me. I hate seeing it used towards anyone who boxes.

And Large Richard is the EU champ, not the EBU, but the confusion is understandable...(to make it worse, it's listed as EBU-EU; EBU is the full-fat, 'proper' European title so this one is called EU by the eight people who want to make the distinction clear).

They've been going at it on twitter for some time (the two boofheads, I mean).

It was Ian Lewison on a recent Ifilm interview calling Richard Towers a coward hiding behind his mums blouse etc

I'm glad Lewison's name is being aired but I think his immediate focus should be preparing for Prizefighter. Like I said on a different topic last week, it's all about getting lighter and getting fitter for Lewison whilst maintaining his well drilled skills. Few people have seen his loss to Kenna, it came as a result of Ian looking and moving like an overstuffed, asthmatic Cornwall Black. If he can get fit and have his weight at 15 stone something, he'll be handful for most and certainly too good for Towers. At 17 stone odd he's just another fat pig wasting his skill-set.

He's a braver man than me calling towers a coward, might not be the best boxer but I hardly think he's a coward, he was out on his fight last time out and pulled off the win, anything but a coward IMO,

The "coward" line is just a bit of hype-noise that's good for both men.

In fairness Colin hasn't been in shape since his loss to Steeds. Was this fight truely awful??

Yes. It was crap. I don't fully understand why I get so antsy about guys like Lewison. It's not like he actually means anything to me, I don't know him and I don't care about him as a person. I saw him a few times as an amateur and thought "hmm, he could be a pretty decent pro", I'll look forward to seeing him progress. I suppose when the only thing that progresses is the number of holes on the inside of his belt loop, it's a bit disappointing.

I'm the same when looking at people like Colin Kenna. Bags more talent than me but prefer Guinnness to their careers whilst I wished I had the talent to have the chances they have had.

Hate the word "coward" in respect of boxers, hyping or not.

Even Stevie Collins was using it re RJJ and he should know far better at his age.

Life is for living Dirk and boxing is all about levels imo Colin would have always fell short at championship level People/ boxers so often live the life and give up their beat years to chase the rainbow that's never there maybe I'm wrong and he could have made something as could loads of others but on the flip side loads/nearly all don't make it I know it's a negative and defeatist attitude but you only have one life so live it you get half/most in fact nearly all boxers who have lived the dreams and even the ones that have made it potless with no decent jobs careers, talents outside the ring whereas I they would have tried an apprenticeship an started a business they would be far better off then someone that has lived the dreams and even of they have made it to British level half would get as much being say an electrician. Fair play to those who do it and do try. I don't know you well but you seem a switched on bloke with a decent job do you think you would have been able to achieve/sustain that if you were training 2-3 times a day?
Fair comments but wouldn't you have always wanted to at least find your level?? Colin in my opinion never tried and that's the frustrating thing even when he got sponsorship to allow him to train full time he didn't put the hours in or didn't live the life. I think he'll be one of those people rueing In his old age what might have been if he gave it ago.

I'd I have thought he'd have a chance with fighters like Gammer so positioned properly could have at least got a British title shot and even won it.

They is a BIG difference between The EBU and The EBU-EU Eowers is the EU Champion. imo Ian would have to win the PF to be in with a shot.

Quality post no 4 Bandit.
Care to come up with something tangible ?
Anyone who regards Richard as a coward best form a queue and say it to his face.
Takers ?
Thought so.

all sensible people including Ian Lewison know and don't think for a minute that Richard Towers is a 'coward' particularly after all the adversity that he's endured and overcome in his life in such a dignified and noble manner, but such a line as 'TJ77' points out is just a way for Lewison to whip up some hype by getting people's backs up and engaging in verbal exchanges and judging on what I've read on here I'm amazed at how easy it is to dupe people into going along with the hype.Tyson Fury does it all the time but the master is David Haye although I have to say that IMO he often crosses the line, particularly with the Klitchko's heads on the T shirt affair
Weren't you the Boofhead who started this thread calling Richard a coward?

Putting things in context Lewison is trying to drum up publicity for the fight. Trash talk is not a new thing in our sport.
