I don't see how you can rip-off Prizefighter unless you call your promotion Prizefighter. The concept itself is millennia old.

Look up 'People choice heavyweight tournement' that took place in 1983. Involved Tubbs, Bonecrusher Smith and Derek Williams amongst others

It's over a number of months rather than one night as far as I'm aware.

Prizefighter style of tournaments have existed for years, particularly on the unlicensed circuit.

If ive understood rightly tonight then looks like Matchroom are set to take prizefighter stateside , ill be interested to see how that works out , both promotionally and in the calibre of fighters .

No reason why it shouldn't do well, especially with the bigger pool there. Also Saturday's one seems to have been well received on US TV.
