There was a substance used for trapping rodents that I think is now illegal - it's certainly illegal in the UK. I think it was called Dack. There is a very similar product available in the US called Temo-Tack. You lay it out on the floor and anything that runs across it is stuck to the spot. I heard that some bare knuckle men used it occasionally on cuts but I'm not sure about the efficacy or any long term harm, nor do I know if cornermen for gloved boxers utilised it.
