Anyone remember Sergey Kobozev?

Anyone remember this cruiserweight from the 1990's?

remember an article in boxing monthly years ago saying he was a likely champion after beating john ruiz and losing wbc title fight on a split to dominguez and how good an amatuer he was his record is below

knew they was a reason i knew of him and vaguely remember him being murdered at the time it was rumoured a russian mafia hit and have came across this article giving an insight to the rumoured happenings

anyone remember this at the time or anything similar to other boxers? guess no matter how tough you are if you mess with the russian mafia you aint gonna win

Olympic bronze medalist Aleksandr Miroshnichenko was thrown off the top of a building. Lot of
free flowing money in those days for 'flatheads' a lot of tough, strong guys got rich but it was
danger money as everyone was killing each other to get their share of the pie. Moscow in the 1990s
was a wild place. :TU:

i remember his story vividly. he was one of the first wave of russians post the soviet collapse to head for America. He broke some New York russian mafia guys nose in an altercation whilst working as a nightclub bouncer and later the same night or thereabouts he disappeared. I think they found his body many years later.

EDIT- SO this clears up the mystery..i didnt know there was eventually a prosecution.
