Froch - Taylor round 12 - Showtime commentary.

That must be his number one career highlight.

its not a fight that is mentioned much when talking about Froch, although the 12th is one of his best moments, he had been pretty bad by his standards early on in the fight.

I have some serious love for Froch.

yes the Super six oppnents were Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson and Ward.

When you add Pascal and Taylor before that, and Bute after the super six, it really is an amazing run of opponents.

Yep surprising that Taylor got into the SS after that pasting then first fight he got another pasting

I was living in a shared flat at the time and was the only one awake to watch this fight. I think it's safe to say nobody in the house was asleep after I screamed the gaff down in the 12th.

If Taylor would've stayed on his feet, I would've scored the fight 114-114. Taylor would've got the nod in the States though.

Amazing last round. Although watching it back, you can see Froch is a much better fighter these days.

Yeah, Froch is much improved. He could have got to Taylor a bit early if he had had more patience back then - I think it was round 8 where he managed to box Taylor's head off until the last 30 seconds when he went back to trying to videogame punch Taylor's head off and immediately ran into a load of counters that nicked the round for Taylor. The Kessler fight was similarly frustrating - he kept waiting and loading up instead of throwing faster shots and got himself outworked as a consequence.

I'm not that convinced that Carl will beat Kessler; he seems to think that going through Bute and Green in England means that he is a machine; Kessler looked very mean indeed v Magee. This will be a very tight but and very hard for them both; doesn't Calzaghes win look fantastic now?

I was the same, my Dad had a right go at me the next day 'I don't give a fack if King facking Kong ran in your room, you don't scream and swear at 3 in the morning!!!'

You mention the 114-114 score you'd have given it, so many idiots on here bang on that Carl was 4 points behind going into the last, like the 4 points would have stayed that way after the 12th, had the ref not jumped in. Lets have it right it was a 10-8 round to Froch when the ref jumped in, and if the ref hadn't jumped in Taylor would have gone down again because he was keeling over with his eyes shut. So by the end of the 12th Taylor would have been at most a SD winner by 1 point on 2 scorecards, and probably he would have not got up from the knockdown he would have suffered had the ref not jumped in. And even if he did get up the ref would have waved him off because Taylor would be swaying all over the joint.

Listened on the radio that night, will never forget it !

Seriously, this is the best finish to a fight in the last 10 years!

Still gives me goosebumps. Possible my favourite moment as a boxing fan.

I will never forget watching this fight. Very rarely will I shout and get out of the chair whilst watching boxing at home on my own but with this fight I did.

I still think the reason Froch lost those early rounds and was so anxious was solely down to nerves, he just looked so nervous and given it was his first fight in America you could tell he was just not himself even walking to the ring.

Certainly doesn't suffer from nerves now.

You don't think it's anything to do with Taylor being a better technical boxer?

It's funny looking back, especially with all the 'who is Carl Froch' stuff from Taylor. The story could have been so different if Taylor had the wherewithal to take a knee in those last few seconds, or had enough to stay away from Carl at the end.

Taylor is a better technical boxer yes.

I just really felt Froch came across as rabbit in headlights. Taylor had been on the world stage for some time so it was not as big a fight for him whereas Froch just looked like he was crippled with nerves from the 1st bell. If Froch had lost that fight I really think his career would have been very different.

I remember it well, I had a big lump of cash on Taylor to win on points
