Decent interview with Haye who talks about Fury, Price and fighting Vitali.

I pretty much agree with everything he says.

Okay. The first bit is an opinion based on him watching Fury once, or so he says. The last bit is obvious. The middle bit is interesting but not because he mentioned it, but because you mentioned it. Why is it pointless for him to fight Fury or Price? He fought Chisora and made a fortune from it. Chisora is not as good as Fury or Price.

So basically the king of self promotion got nearly a full page in the Manchester Evening News to publicise his signing day on Saturday?

It's pointless because he wants to challenge for a world title and neither Fury or Price have one. The comparison with Chisora is a poor one as everyone knows the only reason that fight was made was because of the brawl. Haye would never have fought Chisora otherwise.

I get that he thinks (or claims for now that) a fight with Fury or Price is pointless. I'm not addressing his assertions. I'm trying to understand why you think it's pointless. Do you think it's pointless because Haye thinks it's pointless or do you have a broader explanation?

Do you enjoy trying to patronise people? Every one of your posts seems to exude an air of superiority which is massively misplaced given that most of what you say is actually not very intelligent.

I think it's pointless because Haye is at world level. Fury and Price are not at world level and as such fighting one of them would be a big step down at this stage of his career. If either of them wins a world title then the fight would be worth making but until that happens it's a pointless fight.

I'm not trying to patronise at all. I'm just confused. Only a few days back you said that if you were Haye you'd like a fight with Fury if the Vitali fight couldn't be made. I'm simply wondering why you've changed your mind?

I said it would be an easy nights work for Haye if he wanted the fight as a keep busy fight but I agree with Haye that other than that it would be a pointless fight to make as it would not gain Haye any extra respect, wouldn't win him a world title and wouldn't put him any nearer to a fight with Vitali.

We'll have to agree to disagree as I think it would gain him extra respect if he was more active and was prepared to fight guys who are knocking on the door. Waiting for a chance to mug an old man with bulging pockets doesn't particularly earn my respect.

I do not agree that fighting Price and Fury would be a big step down if he beat both of them which would be some task and very risky. If either of them beat him, more especially if both did, that would be the end of the Haye money gravy train. If however he beat them both with the KKB nearing retirement SHOULD David want to comtinue and get the HW belt back he would be in the total driving seat.
There are 2 routes for him, this I just mentioned and for me right now with all the press, celebrity status shit Haye has going on the second which is what he is doing. Keeping busy and fit, waiting for a crack at Vitali, hopefully winning then he is the boss and can start cherry picking fighters and would get even more massive paydays with Fury, Price etc etc.... I don't think David is doing anything wrong in his career at the moment in all honesty like him or loathe him. Well that's my 2 cents off my chest!!

Wonder how Haye would react if Tyson Fury met him on an escalator at lets say a martial arts expo and challenged him to a fight.

Catch 22 here for me, i sort of agree with both, i believe him to be levels above both Price and Fury but i also agree he is like a vulture circling waiting to pounce on Vitali K.

On the whole though i would rather see him fight VK because thats where the tougher fight lies, i think he would be too much for the others i'm afraid.

What do others think?

You answered your own question there. If the price was right he would fight them. Otherwise it's too high a risk no reward.

What I'm trying to say is that I don't give a toss about David Haye and what he thinks is pointless. I'm looking at this from a purely selfish point of view. I don't think it's pointless for Haye to fight Price and Fury. I would be more interested in those two matches than I was in the one against Chisora. Do you know what I mean?

I agree.

Haye has sold his arse off everyway possible & tries to bargain even shares off k1 promotions because he has a bit off fame & brings an audience & works his nuts off hyping fights.
Haye is not interested in competing with your prices & other young heavies like povetkin, he has made that clear.
He wants megabucks to box or he simply won't bother.he has helped kill the division IMO

You're stretching it a bit there Hurlock, surely it's the fighters that populate the division that dictates whether it's in a healthy state or not. How has Haye killed the division, his HW CV is no poorer in quality than anyone elses of this generation for the number of fights he's had imo and now he's just shouting as loudly as possible that he wants to fight the champ, hoping that it will get him another big money chance for the title. It's up to Vitali who he fights not Haye.

Actually apparently he did kill Sky PPV (or so we thought until Eddie pleaded poverty)
