he was terribly out of shape but holding his own and went over on his ankle. It wasnt pretty.

Corbett's always struggled to get rid of his belly fat. I'm not sure who it was - but I remember someone on her once saying that Corbett could have been a World-Class Super Middleweight but he was trapped in a Crusierweight's body.

I'm not sure if he could ever have been described as "World Class" but I do agree with the last part... Even at his fittest he wasn't the weight he should have been.

I alway wondered why darren never got down to his proper fighting weight?

I saw him box in Carlisle years ago and he were a right handful but not body beautiful. He was heavy handed and tough at the time. If he'd have been able to shift the weight he'd have probably done more. Didn't Don Cockell have an issue that prevented him getting to his prefered/proper weight? Wasn't it a illness or genetic?

Don Cockell suffered from a glandular problem, that caused him to gain weight no matter how hard he trained. Here's a picture of Don when he held the British Light-heavy title, with a physic that Corbett never had at the same weight.

He was 3 stone overweight (fight was supposed to be cruiser). Took two jabs then packed it in with a dodgy ankle

Remember him smashing Chris Okoh...thought he would go on to do something special

I remember watching him labour against some French guy on a Hamed undercard, eventually getting stopped.

The press release said that the French guy was 19-5 or something but it turned out he was only about 6-4 with all his wins coming over novices or guys with about 3 wins between them.

don't think he could ever have made supermiddle to be fair lol, him and garry would have been a scrap though for sure

really? what bad things have you heard about him?

Corbett's always seemed sound whenever I've spoken to him. I went up to his gym a couple of times and he was courteous and told some great stories.

I can tell you FOR DEFINITE that Corbett does both of these things. As a matter of fact, on boxing night I seen him doing both.

You talking about the Sacred Heart Boxing Club? A few of my mates are amateur boxers (done a bit of it myself) and they have told me that he's a bully and that he has a high opinion of himself.

Most of the stories that I've heard come from either:
A. When he's been out on the drink.
B. His tenure as a door-man in and around pubs in Belfast.

And there are a LOT of stories.
