Hagler v toney, Bruno v Morrison,haye v Holyfield and Whitaker v mayweather. I can't confidently predict any of these but know they would of been fantastic match ups what u think ?

By the way for me it's haggler PTs, Bruno ko, holy ko, and I can't separate Whitaker v mayweather

I'll very confidently pick Hagler over Toney, laying on the ropes isn't going to get it done against Marvin. James would land some dazzling counters but lose a wide decision.

Bruno and Tommy is the epitome of a toss up. Bombs flying, both would be down, I'll give a slight lean to bruno because I think his chin was sturdier when he was fresh. Awesome fight.

Holyfield/Haye isn't a very tough one, Evander by early KO at Cruiserweight and I imagine David would run to a wide decision loss at Heavy.

Whitaker and Floyd is very tough, two of the finest defensive fighters and two of the highest ring iq's in history. Two things decide this imo, Perell was much more active, for some reason people seem to forget that he threw a ton of punches and was an exceptional body puncher. Floyd's counter right hand is incredibly accurate and I could see him scoring a couple of flash KD's to take a decision. Gun to my head, Whitaker out-works him. I think it would far more entertaining than a lot of people might think.

A few amateur fights in my youth, just a big fan.

I watch streams of all the bigger fights. I'm pretty familiar with most of the top Brits. I really want to see Quigg fight Frampton.

I watched Pernell as a young teen, at the time I found his fights boring (Haugen and Ramirez II I recall).
Having rewatched these, as a part of his whole career, as an adult its obvious to me that what I regarded then as boring was simply one-sided.
I enjoyed every round of every fight, and it really surprises me that Whittaker has a reputation for being a boring fighter.

I read knowledgeable fight fans talk about him being tentative. I despise compubox, but at one time Whitaker had like 4 of the top 10 or 20 for punches landed in an HBO fight. I think he landed over 500 against Pineda.

Never found Pernell to be anything but entertaining and masterful at the same time.

The most "entertaining" decision in history is the "draw" with JCC......Julio was defeated soundly.

Pernell beats Mayweather in my opinion.

I would agree with the consensus here, but would call the Toney Hagler fight a most interesting one.

I used to suffer an old poster who always called Hagler a "plodder"..... and he used to get everyone riled

up.

The guy suffered no "southpaws" at all...can't remember that contributors name at this point.

I thought he brought some sensibility to the "Haglermania" that used to abound on this board. Not for his

clear assessment as much as just someone letting some gas out of the idea that Hagler beats everybody,

everywhere every time.

Ray out thought him......James at his peak was a most intelligent fighter. Could James add his name to

Ray and Willies? I'm thinkin' it's not impossible.

I find it impossible, unless you're talking about the very old Hagler that Leonard beat. In his prime, Hagler was every bit as versatile as Leonard.

Bruno-Morrison could go either way. I think Frank might just take it but that might be home favouritism...

Holyfield by late stoppage at either weight. Just can't see Haye scoring a Knockdown and he'd need to, to have any chance...but if he comes to fight it would be a great fight.

Whittaker wins 10-5... Same as Hagler-Toney... Toney and Mayweather are great fighters who give anyone a hard fight but I don't see them at the same level as Pernell and Marvin.

Oh, and I hated Whittaker's fights. I always wanted him to lose. Those fights were poor spectacles... I might be wrong, and I'm sure I'm irking the fans of the great man...but when a guy is so much better than his opponent I sort of want him to step up. Whittaker had more power than he usually showed... Or, put it like this, Ray Leonard could have won every round against Dave 'Boy' Green (no slight to Dave, could have used other examples) but he chose to make his fights exciting...

Whitaker had some tough fights later on in his career, like Rivera, Hurtado and McGirt. He had to dig deep to beat these guys and I personally found these fights very entertaining. I accept the point that SRL made a conscious effort to entertain but Whitaker stayed active and elite for a longer period than Ray could manage.

I'd stopped watching and following the sport by the McGirt fights...I think...if my timescales are right...
