As much as I think it will be a great fight, I don't think the general public have bought into Froch the same way as Khan or Haye and I don't think it will do big numbers on box office.

Glad the fight is happening but not that we are being asked to pay extra for it on top of an already expensive SKY sub.

With the money involved, this fight was always going to be box office but I dont really know why Sky took a break from the Box Office stuff if it always had the intention of bringing it back.

I'm not supprised ! If the demand for tickets is anything to go by it will get record figures on sky box office ! Just think about the money your saving not going and that in the US it's $59.95 !

I might be able to order that over my Virgin Box. I don't have Sky Sports, but I was able to order the Ricky Hatton fight as if it was a regular pay-per-view. So, hey, might watch that at home, rather than scrounge off my parents.

well if i dont get tickets for the show they can forget me paying ppv good old internet link will do me. they bombed the other promoters cut weekly shows to put one show a month with the odd prizefighter (bringing back A force and rogie) and now a big interesting fight is on ill hav to pay aswell as my sky subscription to watch it not happy at all.

Absolute joke - Sky are taking the proverbial on this one.

How much Boxing do we actually get for our sports subscription per month ? Not a great deal is the answer.
Sick to death of Ringsides Specials of Brook, Froch and Bellew. Sick to death of the Matchroom Monopoly on Sky !!!

Not content with the £60.00 odd quid per month they want to change extra as soon as a decent fight is brought together.

Think most of the Froch fans will be at the fight anyway - Can't see this doing any great numbers on Box Office - as Doctor has stated Froch just isn't a big enough name to Average Joe Bloggs like Haye, Khan and Hatton et el...........

Agreed but if Mayweather/Pacquiao or Haye/Vitali would have took place in the months following the Haye/Wladimer mess then I'm certain Sky would have gobe PPV immediately.

People should read up on how the ticket business works. How many of the tickets are actually sold to the general public in a straightforward transaction? How many tickets are sold as part of VIP packages? How many are pre-sales? How many are held by those involved in the promotion of the show in some way?

Hatton was on Primetime not SBO - assuming you mean his comeback?

Either way you should still be able to get SBO as far as I'm aware, you might just have to phone Virgin instead. And for that you have my condolences.

Ive no prob with it being ppv , couple of ppvs per year is no big deal , i pay £40 for a small hall show so £15 for a froch fight is no problem .

If it was football it costs you £15 to watch Notts County .

I agree with most that this is a bit of a piss-take and I would normally be annoyed myself, but in this instance it works out great for me as I do not currently subscribe to Sky Sports so I can just buy this as a one off

I'll probably be buying. I was going to get me and my dad a pair of tix to the fight until I saw the pisstake on O2 this morning.

Its ironic that Sky stopped doing box office when they actually had the biggest sales for SBO fights - Haye vs Wlad and Haye vs Harrison were among the biggest SBO figures - even if they turned into dud fights.

I think what Sky have realised is HOW to sell a SBO fight - if the Beyond the ropes and constant plugging on Ringside. They have a near as guarentee good fight as possible with this one (although people have forgotton about the first 6 rounds of their first meeting).

It will do well in terms of numbers - cause now Sky have put their eggs into one basket and the PR will go into overdrive.... and in terms of feedback it will probably not get negative press. The most sure fire way to return to SBO.

Problem is - what happens if say next Froch fight is vs George Groves.... is he now a PPV fighter?

Personally, I am cheesed off with boxing on Sky and the fact there only seems to be 4 fighters the world revolves around - its overkill. Great ringside show they had talking about promotion, but the last time they did that - they had segments with Hennessy, Maloney, Barry Hearn, Hatton and allegedly..... when they announced they were doing a promoters shows I am sure everyone was like "mmm - I wonder will there be an off chance that Eddie Hearn might be one of the guests of honour".

Apparently other promoters were invited on but declined.

And Froch will never fight Groves in a million years, it's a risk he doesn't need. It will be this and Ward, with a Bute rematch in between. Lose any of them and he will IMO retire.

Okay - same question applies.... He beats Kessler - is Bute vs Froch two a PPV. I'd be more likely to pay for a Groves fight than a rematch of a fight we know is a mismatch.

no wonder the general public don't/cant get into the boxing scene cause all they do is rip us off,to be honest I think Maloney and Hatton put on better shows than Eddie Hearn anyway so don't know why sky are so far eddies hoop,i pay £100 a month for my virgin subscription so there is no way ill be getting this fight although,with Froch on it I know it will be worth getting as he is the most value for money fighter in Britain.

Fair question - I imagine that they will claim any world title fight is worthy of PPV after this.

if an English club is in the Champs League final they might struggle to sell this on box office

I dont see how its ripping people off , If u went to any boxing your not getting in for any less than £30 , and chances are it wont have the calibre of Froch on it , Then factor in a bit of something to eat , a few bevvies , Maybe travel and accomodation , It can be getting to around £200 if not more .

Lets face it if u subscribe to sky sports your not only paying for boxing , your paying for football (in the main) rubgy , darts , Cricket , Formula 1 and anything else they want to show such as tennis , NBA , Superbowl etc etc , so if your tenner is devided into the sports i doubt boxing gets even as much as 30p , how do you expect the top fights to be paid for with that 30p unless its on Box office .

Matchroom basically have the Darts, Snooker, Poker, Prizefighter, Boxing and even bloody fishing and some Golf - They basically control the majority of big sporting events in the UK except Football and Rubgy etc

That's why they are so far up Matchroom (Eddie's) hoop

Finally managed to get 6 x £60 tickets ! (£67.50 actually) in the upper tier but centre of the stadium, nearly gave up in the end, done it through o2 priority, tried £80 and £100 but just couldn't get more than two in a row ! I'm in finally ! should be a good night out ! If anyone wants a boxrec meet up, I'm starting in the American bar and grill about 3pm !
