I don't think so. No one knows what happened and what the situation was and even me writing this is wrong for all I know he could of walked up for no reason and hit the guy fully intending to kill him I doubt that but could be. I really feel for the boxer as well as god knows how he is feeling knowing he has killed someone and is probably going to spend a lon time in prison. I for one hope that sense is seen and the sentence reflects the crime of one punch. I apologize to anyone that disagrees but I've been in this situation before myself before I was boxing though
I was attacked outside a kebab shop by a group of lads one one of them repeatedly punched and kicked me until I was covered in lumps and bruises I was cut to pieces and bleeding everywhere I tried to walk away as I know its not clever to pick a fight with 9 or so lads but this broke guy wouldn't let me leave I was cornered down an alley and I was pleading to be left alone. The guy carried on hitting me and taunting me so I warned him he was pushing his luck and him and his friends laughed and taunted some more he then tried to attack me again I threw a punch with every piece of anger and hate I had and it was goodnight for the guy. His friends were to scared to do anything and I managed to run away. I was arrested 2 weeks later as the damage to the guys face was terrible he was in a coma type state for over 24 hardware after I hit him and he had to have his face repaired with plates and stiches etc. I was obviously sorry I did that to him and it wasn't what I intended but he pushed me till I had no choice. The charges were thrown out of court thankfully and sense prevailed. That guy could have easily died and I would have had to live with that knowing that he pushed me to do it. I don't think people should jump to conclusions and I hope that this is a situation where the truth comes out and whatever happens the boxer is punished according to his crime not the result of his crime.

I'm sorry but I can't understand half of it. I know I wear glasses but am I missing something?
No you dont, depends on behaviour. My mate got 28 months and did 9. You get early if they accept you can do ROTL or HDC. Plus, your remand counts as time served. I dont think you can apply for HDC if you do over 4 but im pretty sure you can get ROTL.Parson Cross wrote:Wales if you get 8 you do 4 end of.
Comes with the territory, if you are a known boxer, fighter, hard case or whatever - wankers will try it on and will try and test you so they can make a name on the back of yours. I hope this isn't a shock revelation at this stage. There are two things you can do - keep a low public profile or avoid the places where the wankers hang out which are nightclubs, pubs and kebab shops around chucking out time. I know it is shit and it is not fair but it will make these horrible situations vanish without trace.iftkwoody wrote:I'm sorry for the other guys family but I feel this is the sort of thing that should go unpunished to a degree or carry a very lenient punishment I understand that he has killed someone but he hit the guy once most booked have done it been put had a few drinks got in an argument then had a fight got hit or hit someone and ponies forgotten it is just terrible luck the guy died. again I feel for his family I really do and I'm sure that if it was my family member killed I would be asking for the you to be locked up but if the story is the full story that it was just one punch then realistically is this guy the sort of guy that would benefit from prison???

Yep, Dean Francis and Martin Murray also been in the wrong place at the wrong time (i.e. Kebab shop late on). Curtis Woodhouse had more money, of course. His was in a sit-down Indian.Fat Git wrote:iftkwoody wrote:I haven't been out in my local town for about a year and I have only been out once or twice in the last 3 years. Unlucky, but if you build a public profile and people 'know you' locally as a boxer then nights in are mandatory.
Reminds me of a story of Mark Owen when he was in Take That who thought because he was from around there he could still go out nightclubbing in Oldham, only for some nobhead to hit him (in a kebab shop/Chinese chippy) and shout 'take that' Mark Owen hasn't done anything to anyone but that won't stop the idiots.
Gary Stetch got KO'd in the spicy chicken in St Helens but that was thoroughly deserved by all accounts - what is it about kebab shops and violence?
