as crazy as it might sound, he reminds me a bit of mayweather when he was down at that weight. Great speed, judgement of distance, pinpoint accuracy, and spiteful punching. Of course there will be bigger tests, but at this stage, he looks world class to my eyes, seems to have it all, most imporantly, he is incredibly calm and composed in there.

Definitely. Too cute and classy. Picks his punches well and loads up on them. Who next?

whilst i wouldn't advocate rushing him, he shouldn't be left to bottom feed, needs to move through the classes now, as he is far too good for domestic level - so so strong at the weight as well.

I disagree - he'll need to be much better defensively at a higher level. You can't stand there and trade with anyone at world class level.

Mayweather would never of got caught like Selby tonight, yes the have that shoulder dip style, but Selby needs to get some of the bravado out so he hits and doesnt get hit.

He's probably the best of the bunch over here (would like to see the Smith rematch) but I don't think he'll do much when he steps up.

He looks flashy but he's not necessarily quick and his defence is average.

He looks good but he is still a work in progress. He did get caught a bit too often but he's still young and will only get better. I think he's got great potential.

I think he will learn to be more defensively astute as he moves up in level - i think he knew going in he was too good for his opponent tonight.

I am not suggesting he is AS GOOD as mayweather, just that i could see echoes of Mayweather. Not surprised as he has been watching mayweather in the gym.

I'm impressed by him, power, chin, nice variety of shots. He fought in cruise control and got complacent because of it

It looked to me like Selby could have tightened up his defence whenever he felt like. Against someone who represents any form of danger I expect a different mindset altogether, and a performance to match.

Offensively he is very very good I agree. Defensively he is average as above he'll have to change his style defensively but at the same time still look good going forward; its not an easy thing to do!

Anyone know what happened in his defeat? I know it was early in his career but it was against someone who was 1-0-1.

Was it an off night? Robbery? And why didn't he avenge it? For someone who has kind of slipped under my radar, the performance tonight and accolades he is getting it just seems a bizarre loss.

I'm not saying he's slow, I just don't think he's quick enough to set him apart from other fighters when he steps up, and there really are some good fighters at the weight.

Precisely. I think he has all the tools, including the mindset to do big things. Against a big puncher, I'm expecting him to be far more cautious.

They hinted he wasn't the most dedicated earlier in his career.

Judging by how fresh he was at the bell, that is a thing of the past. He looked like he could have done another 12.

i've always been impressed with Selby, but felt tonights performance was a bit more show over style.
Think he got caught up with impressing the crowd than getting the fight over.
there were still excellent points where he showed what he can do, but i'm not a fan of showboating (some are), and hope that this doesn't get more and more.

The rematch with Smith makes sense, as it would giive Selby the Lonsdale belt outright, and who wouldn't want one of those.

I think he could have won inside the distance if he had stopped being so slinky, but that is obviously part of his makeup.

Looks a bit like a young Barry Chuckle with that tash, can't deny his skills though looks very decent

Young and cocky, but he's only fighting at british level, so i think that can be forgiven. We will see if he has the discipline to take his skills all the way, but there is no denying the ability. I was hugely impressed by his array of punches and his relaxed style.

he's in a toughish division internationally, although i think Billy Dib is a shocking world champion, how is he 35-1????

Yeah fogot to mention that he looked relaxed, controlled and didn't seem to flap when under fire. As I said definte potential.

Wait till his brother leaves WSB and turns pro proper. He's going to be dynamite.
