I was watching some of Carl Froch's earlier fights and the BBC used to have Claude Abrams (former editor of Boxing News) as a pundit. I always enjoyed his input and no nonsense, to the point style of punditry. I know Tris Dixon, who succeeded Claude as editor in 2009 is occassionally on Sky as a pundit. Anyone know what Claude is upto these days?

There was a thread on Claude not so long ago, i think he's travelling the world with his family.

You need some kind of wedge to do that...fair play to him.

Just read his blog too, fair play that is a great thing to do but also must be very challenging with a young family.

Ahh, now I realise why Boxing News subscriptions were so high I wonder how many alphabet organisations there'll be by the time he returns. What a contrast from his life in the world of boxing. You can't beat what he's doing. Good on him and good luck to him and his family.

I heard he turned his back on boxing, couldn't come to terms with the medical impact of the sport any more and so quit Boxing News.

A real shame, because he was a brilliant reader of fights and also a philosopher who really understood the mental aspects of what was going on in a fight.

Claude was very, very good at predicting the outcome of fights.

Me too, mate! 3 years and counting is a long time to be globe trotting, I assume he must be working for stints of his time in Australia and New Zealand as well.

I did 2 years going around the world, but worked quite a bit in Australia.
My dream would be to cycle it, keep dreaming .

Claude was good at picking the method of victory and winner. Naturally, most were favourites.

I wonder if a long trip like this away from boxing is something that say, Steve Bunce for example, might consider?

And its not like he was stuck in a mundane job, either. He was in Vegas half the time!

I'm far too urbanised too even see any joy in a life like that.

Seriously, take me out of my hometown for a week or more and I'd be cracking up.

I'd last about 15 hours on Claude's journey but good luck to the fella

If Bunce did something like this I would imagine he'd take in places like Blackpool, Cleethorpes and Great Yarmouth and rather than eat raw veg and do yoga he'd be dancing Gangnam Style whilst eating chicken in a basket.

Do you think he can pick allegedly up in the New Zealand hills?

Serious question though, dya reckon Claude still keeps up with the sport?

he must do in some shape or form, because he was a pure boxing man, one of the best who understood the sport like very few others.
but, like someone said, he got blinded by his wife into some vegan, hippy existence. maybe when that wears out he will return.
