Dam, I hope not. I like Mick.
The thing is though, he has been in some wars, so it might be time to start thinking about long term health. Best of luck to him either way!

Yes he was.
Lewis has said that Mick is absolutley devastated about the results of a cat scan that he had in Sydney earlier this week. He wants some time to tell his family and get himself together. He will be making an announcement at a press conference on the 21st.

The correct decision but a sad way to end for a true warrior of boxing.Hopefully Mick can now move on to the next phase of his life in the knowledge that he gave it his all, with great international success.

Cat scan can turn up all kinds of things. Hope Michael is OK.
health is more important than boxing career.

Undoubtly one of the toughest warriors ever to fight on these and foreign shores. A man who was willing to scrap with anyone and a total crowd-pleaser.
All the best for the future, champ!

What a true warrior and the pure essence of the term "A fighter", what a shame he is more revered in other country's than his own, fornicate this country sucks for this sport.

His antics in his hometown (Toowoomba) was the contributing factor

Watched his 2nd fight in Toowoomba against James Swan for Australian title. 12 round war and one of the best fights I've seen live. A true warrior in every sense. Happy retirement Mick and hope all is well.

WWhat a true warrior of the sport. Involved in some of the biggest fights by an Aussie, with little fanfare from his own country. He had great following in the USA and UK for good reason. Hopefully good financial sense will allow him to retire comfortably. Congrats on a great career Rocky, and thanks for the memories.

This is, from what I hear, a medical thing that can't be over looked, nothing to do with drugs either for those that assumed. A man's passion and lively hood have been ended due to his fighting spirit. Sad to hear the news, The Great, you're what this sport should be about. A true warrior, enjoy the time off buddy.

As an Englishman, I shouldn't even be here.
But whatever his outside the ring dalliances (& to be honest we only heard whispers), I can only quote what I said in the Current Scene:
Datsue wrote:Loved his attitude & his willingness to war.
Made me stand up & scream when he took out Kevin Mitchell; made Marquez vs Katsidis one of my favourite fights of recent years. Was a tear-up king for a while there.
Peace & love to the bloke. Hope he's loaded & takes care of himself.
I'd just like to say that he was a great sportsman & a great competitor. We valued him on these shores & the Yanks & Mexicans respected him too.

You're certainly well informed.

Katsidis has carved out a great career with fairly limited ability and a lot of guts. There are a couple of Aussie fighters who spring to mind who should feel ashamed with the way they wasted far greater talent than Katsidis ever had.
