Il Duce wrote:The Spanish 'ABC' Boxing Commission suspended 'Perico' for 5-Months after this bout.

And WBC President - Ramon G. Velazquez 'ripped' Perico for a poor performance, and for
taking Saensak Muangsurin lightly.

The problem here for Perico, was only arriving in Thailand 3-days before the bout, and he
was not acclimated to the high temperature and incredible humidity. By the 5th Round,
the 122* Temperature in the ring sapped his strength, and he was floundering.

Plus, he completely under-estimated Saensak. He soon found out that the Thai-Fighter
was strong and punched very hard, and possessed a granite-chin.
Was he suspended for medical reasons?

Il Duce wrote:The Aragon Boxing Commission 0f Spain determined that Perico Fernandez was improperly prepared
for a World Championship fight.

He also was suspended for failing to attend the after fight interwiew with the Spanish Television Network
who broadcast the fight back to Spain.

Later, Perico claimed that his Manager - Martin Miranda had signed him up for this bout without having
the approval from Perico. Percio also claimed that he was drugged before the fight, which made his
arms go numb in the 5th Round.
A fighter's being suspended because he didn't give a television interview...something that would never happen in the U.S.

Il Duce wrote:Perico Fernandez was somewhat of a 'spoiled brat' early in his career.

Campeon del Mundo 'Super Ligeros'

Kind of like a Hector 'Macho' Camacho. He was - talented, charismatic,
good looking and popular.

But, he pushed the envelope in Spain, and had numerous altercations
with the Aragon Boxing Commission (ABC) in Spain.

After winning the WBC Light Welterweight Championship by defeating Lion Furuyama
and then an exciting 'come-from-behind' Knockout over #1 WBC Joao Henrique,
the 'Celebrity Stardum' went to his head at Age 22.

In 1974 - he was on the Celebrity Circuit, made TV gueast appearances, cut a Record Album
'Fuero de Combate' - starred in a Spanish Movie, made TV Commercials, and even challenged
Roberto Duran........

After getting 'blasted out' by Saensak in July 1975 - the Spanish Press in Spain really went
after him. Percio, at only age 22 1/2, was literally destroyed by his own country's Sports
Press 'El Mundo de Portivo' , labeling him as 'washed up'.

ABC De Sevilla Newspaper (JUly 24, 1975)

WBC President - Ramon G. Velazquez stated that the WBC was removing former Champion - Pedro
'Perico' Fernandez from their Top 10 listings. Velazquez added that Fernandez showed irresponsible behavior
and was in terrible physical condition upon entering the ring with Saensak Muangsurin. His poor physical
condition was the reason he abandoned the fight at the end of Round 7. He arrived in Bangkok only
3-days before the bout, and showed a complete lack of professionalism. He was a fraud to the boxing
public, and his performance was lacking in effort.

Pedro 'Perico' Fernandez, "I disagree with the WBC. The heat in the ring was so high, I could hardly breathe
after the 4th Round because the air was so heavy. I also was not aware of the style of the Thai-Fighter, and
I was surprised by his strength and power. I have never been in the ring with a fighter so big and powerful.
He hits very hard. He caught me in the 2nd Round, and I never fully recovered. Look at the film, he is so
much bigger than me."
Wonder how the press would've treated him had he done that interview?

Il Duce wrote:Perico wanted to leave the 140 Lb. Light Welterweight ranks and go down to Lightweight
to go after WBC Champion - Ishimatsu 'Guts' Suzuki for early-1976, but the WBC refused
his petition.

And by May 1976, the Purto Rican Group put up $200,000 to get the Japanese Champion
to go to Puerto Rico to fight Estebad De Jesus.

????
How could the WBC prevent a fighter from leaving one division and going to another? Fighters move up or down in weight frequently.

Il Duce wrote:The ERA of Jose Sulaiman,,,,,,,,,and the European WBC Representative.

Perico dropped down and did win the European Lightweight Championship in July 1976,
and defended it in November 1976, yet couldn't get rated by the WBC at 135 lb.
for a chance at new WBC Champion - Esteban De Jesus.

He ended up fighting Saensak Muangsurin again, in June 1977 for the 140 lb. Crown.

Money,,,,,,,
So he wasn't rated in a division where he was fighting but was rated in a division he'd left.

Il Duce wrote:Following his loss to Saensak Muangsurin in July 1975 -

And following 'two' suspensions by Spains 'ABC" Perico went 6-0-1 (3 KO's) all as a Lightweight.

When he went into the ring for the rematch with Saensak in June 1977, he was the European
Lightweight Champion, and weighed in at 135 lbs.

Here is Perico fighting in July 1976, winning the European Lightweight Championship.

I think Perico would have had a better chance against WBC Lightweight Champion - Esteban De Jesus
than Saensak II in 1977.

Why was he suspended the second time?

Perico Fernandez fought his friend Jose Luis 'Dum Dum' Pacheco (Spain's Light Middleweight Champion)
in a 10-Round bout.

Both fighters more-or-less 'posed' for 10-Rounds, and not a single hard-blow was thrown. It looked like
a light sparring session.

It was found out by Spain's (ABC) that both fighters had a pre-fight agreement of 'non-aggression. The
fans boo'ed the performance by both fighters.

Perico got suspended for 90-Days, which pushed him out of a tentative early-May 1976 rematch with
Saensak Muangsurin.
What about Dum Dum?
