The Beeb are reporting that WBU cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli could face rising star David Haye in his next title defence.
Maccarinelli's promoter, allegedly, is understood to have offered Haye a shot at the 'world' title.
Interesting.

Haye should take the fight, and if he beats Enzo he should dropp the belt and try and fight Hobson

I can understand why? Of the two last outings Enzo looks the more polished performer. Get Haye while you can.

Enzo doesn't jab. Haye, even with such a shabby set of opponents behind him, would thus be able to get close and test the Welshman's chin. It would be bombs away.

Thats true, but Haye didn't jab in his last contest at all. He looked open and sloppy - he could afford to, but it wasn't a good advert.

Just my personal take:
Haye is a differnet class to Enzo, he looks sharper bangs a s hard and has better movement, i find enzo looks somewhat awkward, David is being touted as a future world mixer, if so he should do enough to win.

A clever offer at this point, and a bit of a poisoned chalice if you ask me..

Haye is far from the finished article, and of the two, Enzo is psychologically more ready I think and more polished of the two. Haye learnt nothing in his last outing by walking through that pastry, and I think he would need to face someone of the calibre of a Delaney before taking on Enzo.

Enzo has finally had a test, two depending on how you look at the fight with Bruce Scott, and at present has the better boxing skills.

It would be a very brave, or foolhardy depending on your opinion to take on Enzo that soon, especially with Enzo's undeniable power.

I would rather these two faced off in a year or two's time if they are still regarded as prospects, rather than one or the other being sent back down the ladder by a defeat.

Christ, it would be a hell of a fight though.

This is too soon for Haye and I dont think he'll take the fight. Enzo's power is immense and with Haye's hands down style he'd get clocked sooner or later. Sure he has a chance himself as Enzo has looked vulnerable but at the moment the smart money would have to be on the welshman.

Haye should concentrate on getting rounds with some decent opponents who will stretch him a little. Saturday's workout was pointless, yes he was out of the ring a while but swashbuckling for 2 minutes against Rasani will have done him no more good than a sparring session in the gym.

Haye is finding it very difficult to get any sort of opponent and is so self-confident that he might fancy the job. He isn't prepared for it in my opinion. If he beats Enzo, it would be a mighty fine achievement so early in his career and with so few rounds behind him.

Haye has never really rated Enzo that highly, rates Hobson above him i think., So if he's prepared to fight Hobson cant see why not Enzo. But he wont wanna be short changed.

From Enzo's point of view, i think they want to fight David ASAP, as there are weaknesses that in 18 monbths time may of been improved.

but if haye is as good as I think he is.......wont matter.............

I like Haye to land first and finish Enzo off early. But the truth is, anything could happen.

Someone once called Brian Nielsen 'The Danish Pastry' and it kind of stuck in my mind.....

Agreed Ian, Haye seems like the sort of feller who is brimming with confidence, but he doesn't on paper have the experience or performances which suggest to me he can beat Enzo.

Enzo is hardly Mr Anvil Chin, which will give Haye hope, but I think it would be a bad time to take this fight.

I think allegedly is extending a hand merely for the pleasure of plunging Haye's head beneath the water.

Like you said though, if Haye wins it really gives his profile a massive boost, and he goes into the top 20...

Depends if he's Danish? Poor Brian Nielsen must have got sick of the phrase when he fought Tyson. It was everywhere.

The fight would go to sealed bids surely. Trust me this fight would put asses on seats, two guys considered to be chinny bangers, and for a title. I would like Haye to fight this guy KO him then in the post fight interview say 'this title is p1ss Im vacating it I dont want to be associated with allegedly even so much as having a title that he loves. Right wheres Mark Hobson.'

I guess if your opponent was from cornwall, you could call him a pastie..

Indeed it does. However Warren has offered Haye a chance because he reckons his boy will beat him, Haye won't be crossing over to get this fight made. There is a lot more to this than just a one off Haye-Macarinelli fight. This fight's been in the offing for a while.

We shall see - Im not holding my breath though

Well, if they are on a collision course (if there is such a thing in Brithish Boxing ) I think it favours Enzo to make the fight as early as possible.
Haye has the superior quality, but can he make it tell so early on in his career? 2 years down the line, the money may be more for the fight, but I reckon Haye could be untouchable by then. If Enzo fights him now, well, anything could happen!

Obviously Warren is trying to ruin Haye sooner rather than later. Haye would be foolish to take this fight just yet. Good things come to those who wait, and I just get the feeling that Haye is pushing a little too hard for something big nowadays.

This aint going to happen come on, it's propoganda as usual, like when Warren offered any of his Heavyweights to Audley Harrison, he knows Haye isn't going to fight Macarinelli. If it happened it would be interesting though, both have suspect chins but Haye's is more of a mystery while Enzo carries the greater power. Haye needs a stiff test as he cannot continue swinging wildly at blown up lower weight opponents all the time or he will deteriorate technically.

Yes, I would be very surprised if this fight happens....but there is no doubt that in terms of excitement, it is easily the hottest brightest matchup out there.....even if one blew the other out with ease, in term sof anticipation and knowing one could pull a ko out of the hat at anytime would mean you'd be at the edge of your seat until the end...
