WBC Light Welterweight Championship

* WBC Champion - Saensak Muangsurin (Thailand) ~ 4-0-0 (4 KO's) ~ Age 25, years, 5 months ~ Height 5' 7 /2" ~ Weight 139 lbs.
vs.
#8 WBC Challenger - Lion Furuyama (Japan) ~ 32-9-4 (22 KO's) ~ Age 28 ~ Height 5' 7" ~ Weight 139 1/2 lbs.

Saensak Muangsurin makes the '1st-Defense' of his Championship he won back on July 15, 1975. - The Champion will be
facing southpaw Lion Furuyama a 'second time'. He scored a (TKO 7) over the Japanese Light Welterweight Champion
back on February 16, 1975 in Thailand, in only his '2nd' Professional bout.

The veteran Tetsou 'Lion' Furuyama is a 'main-stay' in the Light Welterweight Division, and is a tough opponent for anyone with
his hard-charging style and southpaw stance. Over his last '8-Bouts', Lion has only posted a 2-4-2 record with (1 KO), but
his 'losses' were to * Antonio Cervantes, * Perico Fernandez, * Saensak Muangsurin, and * Hector Thompson - all
Top Light Welterweights.

The Fight,

Lion Furuyama, with 10,000 fans behind him - opens up aggressively and takes Rounds 1 and 2 with hard banging punches,
while the Champion lays back with a high-guard.

In Round 3, Lion continues with his successful fight-plan and has control up to the (2:00 Mark), when Saensak starts to throw
hard left hands down the barrel that shake Furuyama.

In Round 4, the Champion takes command with hard right hands, and long straight lefts to both the head and body. In Round 6,
Saensak catches the Challenger with a sharp right hook, that opens a slice cut over his left eye.

In Round 7, Saensak is in full command, and pulls a 'Saensak Shuffle' which bring jeers from the 10,000 Nihon Auditorium fans.

In Round 8, the Champion bombs away from all angles, and cuts Lion over his right eye.

In Rounds 9 thru 12 - the Challenger presses, and stays 'even' with the Champion during the exchanges. Though Saensak
lands the harder blows, it is Lion who is the one that lands more punches wth better accuracy.

In Round 13, Saensak lands several pin-point bombs, and has Lion on 'wobbling legs' near the end of the Round. Lion
also has closing eyes, and has some difficulty with his vision seeing the left hand bombs.

Both southpaw fighters exchange well over the last 2-Rounds, but Saensak scores with the more effective punches,
as Lion hangs tough with his affected vision.

Scorecards;
* Referee - Enrique Jiminez........146-143 (8-5-3 in Rounds) Saensak Muangsurin
