Not the most reliable source but according to Fury on Twitter Maloney can't afford to pay him, hopefully it's a load of bull but I wouldn't be surprised given Franks well documented financial trouble

I just has a look On Twitter, Fury is claiming that Maloney can't pay thompsons flight or hotel so it is off and Towers has been offered the fight.

The fact that know one from team Price or Frank Maloney have come out and denied the allegation has got me believing that Thompson has pulled out and there searching for a last minute opponent, shame Chisora hasn't got his licence back in time. Apparently Towers has been offered the fight

Looks to be off judging by Richard Towers tweets -
Simon leary @Simonleary3
@richard_Towers Has Maloney offered you the Price fight? Tyson fury seems to think so!!
Richard Towers @richard_towers
@Simonleary3 yeah but they offered me peanuts I'd fight him for the honour but realistically #comeon
Price's team being very quiet about it. Looks like they are searching for another opponent.

Maloneys silence looks like there is some truth in the matter...

There you go. So what's the story with Towers? Was he asked as a just in case or not at all. I can't see him making something like that up. I'm sure you can't either.
No, I can't either. I wonder if he was just asked 'Were you offered a fight with David Price?' and he didn't relate it to right now, i.e. he might have been offered one before...I'm trying to get hold of the big man (Towers, that is).

Isn't it vaguely standard practice to have a standby for bill toppers?

Towers must be speaking about before as Ian has suggested and not even twigged that he was part of the Fury wind up. If Fury and Price ever do get it on, you can only imagine what Fury will be coming out with then.

Nothing ever makes me smile more than posters on a boxing forum calling a boxer a coward.
I just knew it had to be you or horse to respond first !
I've boxed so what !
That's irrelevant.
I'm talking about fury towards price, not getting in the ring in general !
I'm glad I made you laugh though !
His just a big yella chicken

Fury has fought a good level of competition throughout his career. His record doesn't suggest cowardice.
The fight will happen when the time is right.

Tbf Horse I don't believe Fury avoiding Price has been some sort of masterplan..I think they've known all along he was a danger and diverted accordingly through a decent gradient of opponents
