He got beat by a fighter who could, arguably, be in top 10, pushing it top5, p4p already. So, where does this leave gav. Personally id like tomsee him back in about 5 months at british level, after that maybe a defence of his euro belt, then push for another shot end of this year / start of next. If he wants another crack he needs to move alomg quickly, if not then stay at british level, make a bit more ££ then retire being able to hold his head up knowing he fought the best available.

He will probably be Ricky Burns 1st defence after he gets past Vasquez. I don't think Burns
will lose to Vasquez and Rees will be an obvious choice after his performance - which was
brilliant by the way. His stock has gone up massively.

Im picking vasquez. But then ive picked a load of Burns opponents and he keeps coming up trumps.

I agree Rees showed ability, guts, toughness, desire and a good personality. Hope he goes from strength to strength.

Rees is worthy of mixing with most world class fighters imo. Can't see him stepping down to domestic level just yet.

He should fight the winner of Giacon vs Marsili for the European title.

Fighting Rees in his first defence after Vazquez would make Burns look bad.

Rees' stock is certainly above British title level now. It's fair to say Rees has proven himself and has come far enough to be a known quantity; he's earned his position and he doesn't carry any hidden dangers. That surely makes him a very sellable.
IMO Rees is a higher euro level boxer and further title challenges await, including world titles.

Burns beat Mitchell far more easily than Broner beat Rees, but who talks about Burns being top 10 P4P?

Broner is good, but he doesn't seem to be anything special. Speed and power don't wow me as much as they do a lot of others.

A fight with Kevin Mitchell would be interesting

Id still suggest a eastern european tune up for gav first. Then mitchell around november?

Gav has been notoriously bad in past for living high life, just hope he gets his money from this, pays his bills, then banks the rest before looking towards one last crack at it.

I would love to see him vs Mitchell. 2 came up short in their title efforts against the 2 best in the division. Alternatively, still unfinished business with Murray. And could contest for IBO strap too.
