Looking through the schedule i spotted that David Burke is fighting on the Price bill on the 23rd. Hasn't boxed in nearly 8 years and is now 38..
Bit a weird that he is making a come back now...

I remember when David and Fola Okisola were the only 2 boxers from the UK at the 1996 Olympics. I saw he'd been coaching at senior amateur level and he must of got the urge again.

Very good fighter in his day but nearly 38 and been out for 8 years so what is he going to prove by coming back ?

I would say he'll prove little, he might just have the one fight and call it quits.

I boxed on the same bill as him in Italy he lost to Stephano zoff think that's his name he had some mad supporters they all stayed in the same hotel as us and were give false room numbers for drinks ..

David is healthy,really healthy.in great shape an ready to give it a real to.....keep a eye on him lads

Saw at board meeting in Huddersfield last year looked well and fancied boxing again if I remember right he's been training amateurs for a. Few year

Trust me David isn't in the game for money he loves the sport and feels he can go on and win titles at that weight also being a massive ticket seller and a very good fighter he will be givin the chance ,,,

We will see after Saturday, there have been lots of super fit boxers in their late 30's, but usually the reactions are just not there when the bell rings.

i remember boxing in the early part of 1996 in st georges hall and burke was there watching the kids box and he was also being intervied by sky sports as he was (i think) the only gb boxing representetive in atlanta that year.

Hope he's ok, but at least he knows now that its gone. Its all ok being super fit when you get older, but its a rare one that can turn back the clock and be able to box at a good level again.

I noticed a couple of ex-boxers posting in this thread, so quick question for them. Do you still think about coming back? And to get fit do you avoid the boxing gym, and do something else so you don't get the urge to get back into it?

Good question Ian when I watch the like s of Martin ward and them on The pads lookin. Razor sharp Paul truscott spar and going all out at war I get the gut feelinTo want it again Iv came back yeAr after year but the right decision was made after my last fight in march last year all the moves were there sparrin young guy s and the champ was still bashin them up but all in all glad I retired I had nothing to prove Iv served my time in the ring and In a way glad now as I feel I'm older or gettin old

Every single day I want to make a comeback until about 10am and my trip to Greggs

Well that training seemed to work for Thompson last week.

Used to really rate his brother Stephen.38 so what if he feels he has somthing to offer I'm sure fight fans will benefit!

Life is a bit boring without fighting but a lot easier
