Hi, can anyone tell me how i would be able to get hold of a full unedited audio copy of a BBC Radio 2 Sports Programme that was broadcasted live on Tuesday 15th March 1983 when Charlie Magri fought Eleoncio Mercedes of the Dominican Republic for the WBC Flyweight Title. The fight was at Wembley Arena and Magri won the title when the fight was stopped in the seventh on cuts. Des Lynam was the Boxing commentator with Henry Cooper alongside giving round by round analysis, this radio programme started around 8 o’clock. Harry Levene & Mike Barrett & Mickey Duff in association with Rogelio Robles & Don Chargin were the promoters of this event, matchmaker was Ron Gray, there was a full supporting programme. Does anyone have any personal recollections of any of the bouts (the undercard) as well as the main boxing match (World Title)? Can anyone tell me what is the best way of acquring a full unedited audio copy of this BBC sports transmission via a Charlie Magri fansite & forum, Boxing magazine website?

this will be tough. if i run into magri i'll ask him but i havent seen him much since a couple of years ago. also i dont think he has much tangible stuff on his own career.

Try writing to the BBC. I know Alex Tompkins got a video from their archives of his fight with Steve Lewin.
