Hamilton v Williams

Hamilton looks massive at light welter and has developed into a very effective boxer. I imagines a little more from Williams after the Place result but he just couldn't get into it.
What do others think and where do they both go from here?

Williams took an unnecessary beating. He'll never be a British champ he's very one dimensional struggled vs Godding.
Hamilton is an enigma. He as a solid British champ who knows where he goes. Another defence but against who.....?

Met Hamilton last year, and he is one big bastard for Lt Welter, he can get the Lonsdale to keep and possibly a Euro title shot.
Great win last night.

Hamilton gonna have a short reign I think, if Adil Anwar FINALLY gets his shot, boxes Hamilton's ears off imo

Hamilton has massive upper body muscle definition for a light welter but his legs look very thin. Did Ariza not get Khan to reduce upper body muscle and beef up his legs a bit when Amir first went to the US?
I've seen Hamilton's last 3 fights in Liverpool and he has looked better and more assured each time. I thought last night's fight would be a lot closer but Hamilton was excellent.
I think a fight against Anwar could be fantastic.

hats off to hamilton he fought the right fight and his game plan payed off,as for williams,he has a really bad 13-14 months with injuries, illness and other things beyond his control like maloney pulling the fight off the october or september show when both hamilton and williams had trained hard for 6-7 weeks. i hope williams fights on as we still havent seen the best steve williams. hamilton will beat adil anwar imo,he is too tricky for anwar,id like to see if anwar made weight in the hour he had because he was running around anfield in the freezing cold and im telling you now, there is no way you would lose 1/2 kilo in that weather the way he was running, plus to me it looks like he is struggling at 10st limit.

Anwar will beat Hamilton. He is nothing special at all. He just cold not miss with jab's and looping right hands. The writing was on the wall for Williams in the Goddings fight which i thought he lost.

i had williams winning the godding fight by at least 5 rounds, hamilton isnt nothing special but niether is anwar, hamilton does the basic things good, anwar will be kept at the end of the hamilton long jab, just my opinion tho

have you seen Anwar fight?
there's only one in this fight i'd describe as 'tricky'...

yep ive seen him in the prizefighter i wasnt impressed,he is abit tricky but i think hamilton will keep him at range and it will be hard for anwar to get to him, plus with spencer fearon in his corner he has one of the best coaches in europe, hamilton will be ready for anything anwar comes with, just my opinion

Like Hamilton's story, made it the hard way, the proper way - area level against McDonagh, avenged his DQ loss to Dave Ryan for the masters then came in late notice away against Watson, won that then got the opportunity late on against "world" level operator Theophane and took it (and the belt) with both hands - then has defended his title impressively away from home in his opponents back yard.
Seems proud as punch to have the lonsdale too, hope he gets it for keeps.

fair play, Hamilton has done well and is no slouch, can just see Anwar being too clever in there, weight problems aside.
Intriguing fight though

Anwar certainly was not bothered last time he fought one of Fearon's lads, on one of his shows, in the away corner!

Anwar / Hamilton might not make great viewing but I find it almost impossible to pick a winner. Both are a tricky and a bit unorthadox and are easy to under rate in my view.
Hamilton was excellent last night. Williams is a tough and game kid but he got outclassed, I couldn't see a legitimate arguement for giving him a round although one judge did and another gave him two and a share of a third
Wish Hamilton all the best, fights to his abilities, is in stunning shape and values the title he has done so well to win. A credit to himself and the sport

I was very impressed by Darren Hamilton in his first defence of his Lonsdale belt aganist Steve Williams, He kept the fight long picking his shots effectively and varying the power on them and keeping an extremely high workrate that detered Williams from getting on the inside to unload against him and I reckon he got the skills to win the Lonsdale outright and successfully challenge for the European title.

I thought Steve Williams was going to win, so quite impressed. While Williams is a tad limited, he is consistent - and I thought Hamilton was a bit fortunate in facing the enigmatic Theophane on a bad night.
He completely dominated Williams, which at least shows it wasn't some kind of fluke against Theophane.

Williams is consistently limited though. Daws and, to a lesser extent, Goddings exposed him first. I was impressed with the manner of Hamiltons victory though.

I wouldn't say he is limited cause I've seen him in fights were he has boxed the head of people like his fight against Slawomir Ziemlewicz a tough polish fighter, I would say he has been hit with bad luck over the past 13 months,as for kirk goodings I had steve winning by at least 5 rounds in a fight were steve williams didn't do any road work due to an injury to his leg (runners knee) and I know this for a fact cause I was training with him for a marathon (liverpool marathon in october) when it happened, goodings will be a fighter to watch for the future I bet he is challenging for honours in the next few years. the daws fight was a close fight on the judges cards and,if you watch it again, daws goes back to his corner in the 10th dead on his feet with steve coming of his best round of the fight and getting stronger going into the final 2 and robby mcCraken telling him to relax. hamilton executed his game plan brilliantly but against a very under par steve williams. Any ways well done to Hamilton he has grabbed his opportunity with both hand and is running with the ball for as long and as far as he can

Yeah, we know Williams' level Mickey. He reminds me in some ways of Barry Morrison - no world beater but a good solid pro who has caused some upsets and beaten some good names.
If Daws wins the European title, then his effort against Daws in a fight in which I think Williams was largely dissapointing won't look so bad. Always felt Williams wasn't at the races that night and only seemed to wake up towards the end.
I also felt he beat Goodings fairly comfortably (3 points).
He's a solid domestic level operator who can win a lonsdale belt with a bit of fortune who he faces. Much like someone like Wayne Rigby.
So for Hamilton to beat him handly, well its impressive. If Daws gets the EBU title, him against Hamilton will be a good one. Form would indicate Hamilton - that would be impressive considering a few months ago he was a vitual unkown replacement job against Theophane.

Or he could do the right thing and defend against Anwar who's been sitting on the sidelines patiently waiting for his long overdue shot

long overdue????? he earned it when he fought miles in october so he has to wait his turn till the next in line has fought for it,dont you know the rules of how the title defences go????,now hamilton will fight anwar or be stripped, i think thats what has to happen anyway.
