Unbelievable. Given that Bob Lee ended up in prison last time you'd think they'd learn, but...

Not if you were in a workplace where your predecessor ended up in prison for the exact same crime. That would make most people think twice.

But most people aren't in charge of rankings for professional sport (just like most people aren't judges); if they can't be more impartial than the rest of us, they shouldn't be in charge of a supposedly impartial ratings organisation.

If you were in a company where your predecessor ended up in prison for the exact same crime, wouldn't you think twice?

I might buy my wife a ranking for her birthday.

Aye, like those certificates where you can buy a piece of the moon or mars or a star. I can see my conversation next Valentine's:

"Here you go, darling. You're not just my number one, but the IBF's as well."
"What does cruiserweight mean? That's one of the small ones, right?"
"Aye, just your size."

I'd definitely think twice about who I employed and what I allowed them to be privy to.

On the wider issue, pretty much everyone has a price is all I'm saying.
No; I'd make sure I hired someone who was going to take the fall - and make sure that they got a cut of the money to make it worth their while. (Isn't that how most of the crooked stuff works?)

I was going out with a Japanese girl who gave me a good ranking on my birthday.

The WBO are just as bad. Look what happened recently. Shawn Hawk wasn't in WBO's top 15 light heavyweights. They waited until the November rankings were out before they edited the October rankings. They edited Octobers rankings and put Shawn Hawk in at number 15. So he appears at number 15 for October and November.

The last fight Shawn Hawk had before he magically appear in WBO's rankings for October 2012. Was against Eleider Alvarez back in June 2012 in which he lost.

Shawn Hawk wasn't in the WBO's top 15 light heavyweight rankings for June, July, August and September. So Shawn Hawk earned his WBO #15 rank as thus eligible to fight for the WBO Light heavyweight title. By losing his last fight 5 months prior......

Only in the WBO can you not be ranked by them. Lose your last fight and then 5 months later appear at #15 and then be eligible to fight for one of their world titles.

A short while ago, I began tallying how many boxers ranked in the top 5 of each division by the 'big four' sanctioning bodies I had not seen fight. Not exactly scientific methodology but there were so many I soon got bored. The amount I'd never even heard of was in double figures so that's perhaps a knock on my credentials as a boxing writer along with the sanctioning bodies' ever-degrading reputations.

I thought this was bad, I'm now hearing off the grapevine that a certain promoters column in the sun might not be an entirely accurate reflection of the sport as a whole. I await waking to news of an retired aged fighter thinking he's got one last shot at a world title in him. It's all too much.
