Speed and power against toughness and experience. How does it play out over 12 rounds.

Toney. I'm confident he can take what Haye has, but I think he can really hurt Haye. I'll take Toney by decision in a war or possibly late stoppage.

I think the pre-fight trash talk very well could equal the fight.

I think Haye would have the speed to avoid the power of a slower opponent like Toney, Haye would wear Toney down over 12 rounds of cat and mouse.

Without the PEDs, Toney is a fat middleweight. Haye on points.

Haye is gonna be the first man to stop Toney?

I see Haye making a good start for 3 or 4 rds, but then Toney begins to increasingly catch him with counters. Probably an evan fight thru 8, but then Toney's experience and durability kick in and he stops Haye on his feet in the 11th.

Haye's speed would definitely cause some trouble. I wouldn't even smirk at David using his legs to win a decision. But wearing him down and stopping him are two pretty impossible scenarios.

There are no other sane responses as far as I can see. I am a big proponent of Haye's cruiser effectiveness; stylistically he'd be something of a fvcking nightmare for Toney.

But--apart from a chance at making it a fleet-footed avoidathon, a scenario he's certainly capable of executing & prevailing in--my money would be on Toney to get the win.

Toney; he was a complete prizefighter. Haye was fast and all, but Toney had more know-how.

Haye on points, but Toney's old-school skills mean he has to eat regular right's over the top in the last third of the bout.

Did any of you watch the Jirov fight? That guy is the one who gets tired late in a war with haye?

Yes and there is almost no chance Haye stops Toney, but James could stop Haye. I am confident that Toney would win this.

At CW, Haye was more aggressive and his shot output was higher so combine this with his speed and he would give Toney something to think about and the American would more than likely lose the first 3/4. Toney then settles, leaves Haye come at him and counter punches until Haye starts to slow around the 8th. From here, Toney outboxes him before winning a close decision - 115-113.

Yeah, Toney never faced a guy with that power. James is good enough to make a fight of it but really, James is a great middleweight fighting a great cruiserweight here, and that's the diffenrence. I stand by my call

Haye might not stop him if they fought now. Zero chance at Cruiser, where James never lost a fight until the ill fated bout with Lebedev. Who couldn't stop what was left of him.

I think this would be a pretty close fight. Toney definitely wouldn't get tired late against Haye, Jirov fought at a frenetic pace and Toney was able to hang in there every step of the way. Haye wouldn't just come in and be as willing a target as Jirov was though, he'd try to jab and move at times and he'd probably take a few rounds that way. Toney could adjust to anything though. Haye has the power advantage here, but Toney's chin is an advil and his defense is superb, there's basically no chance Haye stops Toney. I'd go with Toney via Split decision or a close UD.
